Glitter.

The bright lights sting her eyes and blur her view of the crowd. In that blur, just for a minute, she can pretend he's there. Sitting in the front row with their two boys, Matt and Graham, and their girl Arianna. Blowing kisses to her as she walks down the runway after the final model, thanking her own mother and the venue for all their hard work. But he's not. He's at his own house, with Peyton and their kids. Probably brooding and filling the house with art and music and novels as their kids sit and sulk and watch old broody movies.

So she says her thank-you's and goodbyes as she struts back down the runway and disappears behind the curtain. Struts back to nothing. Because Peyton decide she was in love with Lucas senior year. And Chase 'couldn't handle the distance'. And her mom shoos off any boy who might try to get through the stone wall she has around her heart. Or try to get in her pants, there's a stone wall there too. Because the last person she had sex with was Lucas, Chase broke up with her before she could unsnap her bra clasp. And there's really no time for Brooking yourself in the fashion world.

So she goes home and sets her dinner table for two, although no one ever shows up to fill the other space. The same way she saves a few seats at each fashion show, just in case someone wants to stop by. Except no one does. Haley and Nathan have 2 year old Jamie to worry about. Lucas and Peyton have Erin and another girl on the way. And just because they all live in the same country, state, and city doesn't mean anyone should have to call Brooke, or come to the first show her designer line has ever had, or any show for that matter.

It's not like they mean to forget about her. Right? Well Lucas doesn't, and neither does Naley, but Peyton is a different story. See, Peyton has a little nagging voice in the back of her head that says Brooke would have sex with Lucas right in front of her if she saw him. Because although she hasn't seen Brooke in a long time, it's easier to believe she's a whore then to realize she fucked her best friend over royally. So she chooses to believe what she wants. And Lucas chooses not to tell her that he saw Brooke last year in New York, and almost had sex with her.

So Brooke tells herself that she chooses to live with her heart closed, and her legs closed behind the bright lights and the glitter of her life.

I told you it'd be short.
