Lady Morgana's Feelings For Lancelot

Disclaimer – I own nothing of Merlin. I am just a fan and I am writing strictly for people to enjoy.

A/N- Now, I know that Lady Morgana does not like Lancelot and that Gwen does, but I am just making it like this so that Arthur's relationship with Morgana becomes more brotherly/sisterly.

A/N- I've never written a Merlin fan fiction so please go easy in the reviews… I only write LOTR fan fictions and I don't write romantic ones either!

{*Note: This is Legolas Fanatic. I have edited this story for Elvenprincess3019. Any mistakes you find are my fault as I missed them when proofreading and editing the work. Thank you}

Morgana was sitting in the castle garden, the shades of green surrounding her working to set a tranquil mood; ranging from a light, boisterous emerald to a darker shade of jade that reflected the sun so as to almost appear to shimmer. She was lost in thought, mind straying to life and its many, many possibilities... she almost did not hear Arthur enter and take a seat to her right, except she saw the flash of his dark hair in her peripheral vision.

"Hello Arthur. I'm surprised you are back so soon," Morgana looked up at the young man, surprise obvious in the lines of her expression.

"Yes, I'm even surprised that I managed such an early return. I just finished checking the borders of Camelot and wanted to see if you were doing all right," Arthur replied, offering the woman a small smile.

"What do you mean?" Morgana frowned, taken aback by Arthur's words. That was the last thing she would have expected.

"Well, ever since Lancelot left... you have acted very... How should I put this? Um... grieved," Arthur sounded sad, his tone dropping in pitch and his eyes taking on a slight melancholy.

"No," Morgana denied instantly. "I have just had a lot on my mind." Even though she did her best to mask the morose feeling she could feel beginning to weigh down her stomach, she was certain her eyes would not be thwarted... they would reflect her sadness as surely as the sun shines.

"What do you think of the young man, Morgana?" Arthur asked confidently, watching her closely so as to catch her reaction.

"I do not think that is appropriate... it is certainly not a conversation I should be having with you, Arthur." She turned away quickly to conceal the smile she felt widening her lips.

"Morgana, I am simply just enquiring as to what you think of him as a knight," Arthur said innocently, spreading his hands in a gesture. His tone indicated that he was most certainly not enquiring as to just that... and that there was a hidden undertone to his question.

Morgana knew the tone all too well and was not fooled. Her eyebrow shot up, curving as she inspected Arthur for a long moment, not saying anything. It was obvious he knew... knew that she did not just think of Lancelot as a knight. But, she could humour him...

"Well, as a knight, he is a great swordsman. His finesse in battle is awe-inspiring to behold and many knights would be jealous of his skill. He is reliable and honourable... a true hero... And, one day, I hope he will find a nice w-- " Her sentence faltered as the loud chirp of a bird interrupted her. She jerked slightly and put a hand to her chest, a small smile tugging at her lips. Coincidence that it chose that part to squawk? "... Woman... someday. After all, he is a very handsome young man."

"You think of him on a more personal level, don't you Morgana?" Arthur asked in a quiet voice, already knowing the answer. His rhetorical question caused her to blush faintly and shift her position.

"Well…" She began, rolling her shoulders and smiling shyly, eyes sparkling.
