Continuation of "A Slice of Life". Slow updates because of school and the projects I have coming up.

Summary: To become a heroine she weathers the darkness in search for sunlight. Sakura-centric. Sequel to "A Slice of Life"

To Become A Heroine

She was 14 years old now and stood among the Hero hopefuls ready to take the Entrance Exam to get into the U.A High School. Her father and mother didn't move back with her since they have her little brother and the businesses to look after. She wore a green sweater, black shorts, and black running shoes. Her hair was braided like usual with different types of flowers intertwined in the braid. On both of her wrists, she wore a vine in the shape of a bracelet.

She stood at the very back of the crowd as Present Mic explained the instructions. They were supposed to destroy the enemy robots to gain points. Sakura glanced at the people in front of her and wondered what types of quirks they had. Soon her eyes landed on a familiar green haired boy.

Izuku Midoriya.

Sakura was walking towards him before she knew it. Pushing her way through the crowd she stood behind the nervous wreck of a boy and tapped his shoulder. He turned around slowly before his eyes widened as they a landed on her.

"We meet again… Izuku kun."

"No way..." he mumbled, staring at her wide-eyed.

Sakura smiled before pulling him into a tight hug. She felt the boy stiffen in her embrace but ignored. He was her first friend and one of the first people that didn't condemn her for her quirk. She pulled away from the blushing boy and chuckled. She was aware of all the people watching them but she didn't care.

"I'm so glad I could meet you again Izuku kun." Sakura said

"S-sakura san, what happened? You just disappeared and I-I never saw you again."A red-faced Izuku managed to say all in one breath.

Sakura smiled. "I'll explain after the exams Izuku kun." Sakura said before pointing at the gate. "Since I think we've been left behind."

"Crap! Hey wait up save some villains for me!" Izuku yelled before running off and leaving Sakura behind.

Sakura shook her head and smiled. "Baka," she said before jogging through gates. She ran through the city looking for the highest point. She needed to get the most points in one go that would secure her a position into the school. She had developed her quirk in the years and found out it took more energy to grow flowers from the earth and mutate them. But by having flowers in her hair and the vine bracelets on her wrists she was able to save much more energy by using them for whatever purpose.

Sakura stopped in front of the tallest building in the city. "This should do it." She said to herself while kneeling on the ground. She placed both hands on the ground and concentrated. A small crack in the concrete beneath her feet signaled the beginning of a flower. It was but a small bud coming out the ground before Sakura accelerated its growth and it blossomed into a tulip. The tulip's petals grew out underneath her before enclosing around her. In a matter of seconds, the tulip grew quickly and Sakura soon found her self slightly above the 300ft building. The tulip opened up and Sakura jumped onto the building.

She could see smoke coming from several parts of the city and many villain robots and one 0-point robot. She had limited time and she didn't know how many robots there is so she could only do a large scale attack. "Time to show these people what Sakura Momochi is made of." Sakura grinned before spreading her hands outward. When she was 8 years old she could barely manage to fill a field with flowers without falling asleep. After training her body and her quirk she could at last fill a city as small as this one with regular flowers. However, she wasn't going fill the city with normal flowers.

"Monster Flower Forest Emergence!" Sakura yelled once and all she could hear was screams emanating from the city below. Sakura fell to her knees breathing hard as she watched the city turn into a forest of giant flowers. Sakura closed her eyes as she connected with her creations mentally. "Destroy all enemy robots on sight and help any students you come across."

After sending her message she could feel herself becoming drowsy and ready to pass out. Her dad was going to scold her if he found out she overdid herself. She wanted to show everyone what she could do so she needed to hold herself together.

In a control room, the teachers watched the examinees run through the city. "Clearly the examinees have no idea how villains are present or their locations," Principal Nezu explained, "They have limited time must cover a vast area and hunt down every last target. Some use information gathering ability to plan out strategies. While others rely on speed to pull ahead of their peers. Of course remaining calm under pressure could be a huge advantage as can pure power and combat abilities. The most successful students use a combination of all these tactics. They're the ones who rack up the highest scores."

"I'd say this group looks promising."

"Well, the real test is about to come. Let's see how they react."

They watched as the giant robot emerged from underneath the city and all the students running away from it. Before they could blink their screens were suddenly filled with flowers.

"What the-"

"The entire city is one giant flower forest!"

"And some of the flowers have teeth!"

"Whose quirk is this?" Principal Nezu asked looking at the screens.

"Hers!" Someone pointed at the screen where they could see a pink haired girl with flowers in her hair on all fours trying to stay conscious. "According to records, her quirk is called "Flower Gift."

"To have such a large-scale attack on the entire city..."

"It's clearly taking its toll on her but she filled all the requirements that the principal mentioned." someone said with a pleased tone.

"Woah, the monster looking flowers are even helping the students and healing wounds." someone cried out.

"This level of ability is crazy. Why wasn't she a recommendation?"

"She lived in the countryside until recently. She's the girl involved in that accident years ago..."

"Regardless of her pasts, all I can say she's racking up points like crazy. Those monster flowers are like dogs and attacking every robot in sight and tearing them limb from limb."

"A large scale attack like this is taking a lot of her energy and it isn't enough to deal with the 0-point robot." Principal Nezu pointed out as flower monsters tried to restrain the robot but it was tearing them apart.

"Wait, that green haired boy is running towards the enemy robot!"

All Might felt like a proud parent watching Izuku punching the 0-point robot and saving the girl. He even felt happier to see Young Sakura here and trying out to be a hero. He had seen her potential years ago. Her eyes held fire and maturity in them that he hadn't seen in a child before. She was saving and attacking at the same time. Not many people had quirks with that kind of flexibility. She was one to watch out for.

Sakura fought with everything she had to stay awake but she could barely hold it together. "Come on Sakura you can do this." She hissed to herself, sweat dripping from her forehead. She held on for a few minutes before she passed out on top of the building. The monster flowers she created receded and became regular giant sized flowers as the timer signaled the end the exam.

Two days later, Sakura found herself home in the apartment her parents rented out for her with her dad scowling at her. "Wahhhh!" Sakura yelled sitting up immediately. "What are you doing here dad?!"

"I've come to slap you upside your head for your stupidity." Hirochi growled, "Why would you do something so stupid Sakura and on top of a building?"

Sakura winced at his tone before avoiding his angry gaze. "I'm sorry, dad." Sakura apologized. Hirochi huffed before smiling.

"Now that you told me sorry you have to apologize to your mother and little brother now," he said before her mother and brother stepped into the room.

"Sakura you really had me worried," Haruka said, folding her arms and scolding Sakura with her eyes.

"Saku!" her little brother Kanami yelled, flying over towards her with his wings. He flew into her arms and hugged her, nuzzling his nose into her stomach.

"Mom?! Baby brother?! Wings?!" Sakura questioned in one breath.

"Kanami awakened his quirk a month after you left," Hirochi said, watching his son's swishing tail with a grin.

"Before your father goes on his quirk explanation Sakura must apologize," Haruka said.

Sakura smiled sheepishly. "Sorry mom," she said before looking down at Kanami, "and little brother." She brushed his blonde hair from his face as he stared up at her with round grey eyes he got from his mother. She was always an only child in her previous life but in this life, she had a cute little brother.

"I was worried Saku." he whispered before hugging her tightly. Sakura smiled and ran a hand through his hair and touching his horns slightly.

"I won't make you worry any more, alright?"

"Promise?" he asked with a toothy smile.

Sakura nodded. "Sure thing cutie." she replied with a smile before looking at father. "Can you explain how my cute little brother has horns, wings, blue scales and a tail?"

Hirochi laughed. "Your brother's quirk is Draconic Physiology. Thus the dark blue scales, horns, wings, and tail. That little fire-breather nearly burned the house down." Hirochi explained with a grin.

"How is that even funny Hiro?" Haruka asked, giving him an exasperated look.

"Wait, so he can breathe fire like a dragon?" Sakura gave her father an incredulous look.

"He breathes blue flames and not only that he has super hearing AND strength." Hirochi happily said. "I've been helping him to get control over the flames before the house turns to ashes but his strength is still work in process and as for his hearing… let's just say your mother and I had to install walls that would block his hearing."

Sakura cringed. "You're disgusting dad," Sakura replied, trying to rid the scandalous image from her mind.

"You're too much Hiro." Haruka blushed before nodding her head. "He's right though. Since I was the one who suggested it"

"What?!" Sakura yelled.

"Mama, Papa what are you talking about?" Kanami asked, looking at his mother and father.

"Nothing you need to worry about my little dragon." Sakura quickly cut in before her parents said something and hugged him tightly. She wasn't going to let her parents taint her little brother. He would stay pure forever and ever, she thought fiercely.

Hirochi leaned over to Haruka and whispered. "I think our Sakura is a bro-con." he snickered, making Haruka giggle.

Sakura turned towards her parents. "What are you guys whispering about?"

"Nothing!" both exclaimed.

"Saku, they said that you're a bro-con." Kanami innocently said, exposing his parents.

"KANAMI!" both his parents cried out.

"MOM! DAD!" Sakura blushed, narrowing her eyes at her parents.

"We didn't say it!" they both replied.

"Sureee" Sakura deadpanned, choosing to forget about their obvious lies. "How long are you guys staying?"

"We're staying for the night only since we were here for two days already because someone overdid it. Anyway, I wanted to congratulate you Sakura." Hirochi said before getting up and patting his daughter on her head.

"For what?" Sakura asked.

"For doing so well in the exam despite your actions. You're all everyone is talking about now." Hirochi sent her a pleased smile.

"I thought the exam was private?" Sakura asked.

"It is but a video of you leaked and was shown on the news." Haruka frowned. "I don't like it and wish the person who leaked it would be punished."

"Mhm, I don't want people to see my Saku!" Kanami growled deeply and loudly scaring the occupants in the room.

"Calm down little dragon" Sakura grinned before cuddling her little brother in her arms before turning to her parents. "So I'm famous now?"

"Yep, also the public has dubbed you the 'Flower Witch' so I guess you don't have to think up of a hero name now." her father told her.

"Do they know where I live?" Sakura hurriedly ask.

"Thankfully no," Haruka answered.

"Also, because of this, you didn't have to wait long for your results from the exam. We have the letter right here!" Hirochi said, pulling the letter out of his pocket and handed it over to Sakura's

Sakura held the letter nervously, willing it to open because her hands were shaking too much to pry it open. "Saku! Hurry!" Kanami squealed before moving out of her arms and flying above her.

"OK ok," Sakura said with a sigh before opening the later. A beam of light shot out of the letter making Sakura drop it on the bed. The light produced a small screen where they could see All Might smiling.

"Young Sakura! I congratulate you on passing the written exam with full marks." All Might said.

"That's my flower!" Hirochi cheered before lifting his wife and spinning her around.

"Yay SAKU!" Kanami yelled flying around his parents' heads.

"Alright guys, he's not finished," Sakura said, watching the screen.

"You also passed the practical exam with flying colors. You have incredible skill Sakura and it's being recognized. The entrance exam the other day was not one graded only on villain points! A hero's purpose isn't only to fight the villain but to also save the people. You can't call yourself a hero and reject saving someone. This is a job that requires risking one's life to save others. It was also graded on RESCUE POINTS!"

"Surprising." Sakura simply said as a smile blossom on her face.

"Sakura Momochi! Combat Points: 100 and Rescue Points: 400! You scored the highest points in exam history. Congratulations Young Sakura!"

The entire room got silent at the declaration. Sakura looked at her family and them back her before she broke out in a huge grin. "I PASSED!" she screamed, jumping out bed and running towards her family. They pulled her into a huge family hug.

"SAKURA YOU PASSED!" her father cried out.

"Sakura I'm so proud of you." Haruka wept happy tears.

"My Saku is the strongest! Weee!" Kanami squealed while swishing his tail around wildly.

This was the first step for Sakura as a budding heroine. Who knew that the further she advanced in this path the further she would be out from under the sunlight and into the darkness. Right, now she was happy with her family unaware of the looming danger in her future. The past always catches up to us.
