My fourth piece for the 'Dominoes Game Challenge' - Bella/Lucius
Bella had always been jealous of her sister Narcissa; ever since they were very young children. 'Cissy' was the darling favourite for being beautiful, smart and the epitome of a pureblood daughter. In contrast Bella had been unruly and demanding, and had never failed to pull a sigh of disappointment from their stern mother.
As the years went on, Narcissa stayed the favourite of the family, growing more beautiful and sophisticated as she grew. And though Bella also grew in beauty and magical strength, she never seemed to please the Matriarch of the Black family.
Narcissa got praise and rewards for her mastery of transfiguration and charms, and Bella only got scorn for her ever rising skills in the Dark Arts and their defence. Pureblood women, her mother said, are not meant for fighting.
Despite years of being ignored in favour of her perfect sister, Bella had never been as jealous as she was in this moment.
She stood at the back of the ballroom, dressed head to toe in pitch black; something her mother had berated her harshly for not long before.
Perfect Narcissa gracefully swept down the aisle in snow white; pearls and diamonds stylishly hung around her neck and wrists. Standing at the end of the aisle stood Lucius Malfoy, the only man Bella had ever wanted.
He was stunning, polite and proud. His skills in the Dark Arts had her parents salivating over him, and his lineage was impeccable.
When Bella had suggested to her parents slyly that he would be a good and suitable husband to a Black woman, they had jumped on the bandwagon with enthusiasm. She had never thought it would end like this.
Bitterness welled up inside her to see the perfect man in the perfect ceremony gracefully marry her hideously perfect sister.
