Chapter 1

"You idiots!" A woman shouted. "I told you not to do anything with her! Why did you-"

"Master Karlheinz demanded it be done now."

"I wasn't even sure if the procedure would work! She could've died!"

"But she did not."

"Because of luck."

"Because Master Karlheinz assisted in the procedure."

"That..." Something slammed down next to her head. Yui flinched and slowly opened her eyes, wincing at the brightness that greeted her.

There was a small sigh. "Everyone get out. Miss Komori is waking up."

Her eyes adjusted to the light as the door closed. When she tried to sit up the world began to spin and she leaned over the side of the bed and threw up. A hand gently pat and rubbed her back.

"This is to be expected. Just relax Miss Komori." Her eyes widened and she turned to look at the woman behind her.

"Who are you?"

"I...I am Miss Samuki." The black haired woman answered brushing some black hair behind her ear. "I found you unconscious outside my workplace and brought you here."

"Thank you."

"No need to thank me." Miss Samuki leaned forward and put her hands on Yui's bed. "How are you feeling?"

"W-What?"

"Considering your condition when we found you, I'd be surprised if you perfectly fine. So how are you feeling?"

"I'm alright...I think." Yui muttered the second part. She did feel fine, but something also felt different. She couldn't figure out what it was. Maybe her heart had been stolen again? She began to play with a strand of hair absentmindedly.

Miss Samuki moved away and studied her for a moment. "Can you stand?" Yui looked at her confused. "If you're alright like you say, you'll be able to stand and prove it to me."

"R-right." Yui slowly slid off the bed and tried to stand. Her legs shook and almost gave out. She grabbed to edge of the examination table to steady herself. Out of the corner of her eye she saw some red near the edge.

Miss Samuki put her hand down on the spot of red. "We had to do an operation to help you. I want you to take it easy and do nothing."

"The blood there..."

"I'll clean it off." The older woman waved her other hand dismissively. "It's just something left over from our procedure on you. Oh and," the woman reached into her coat pocket and pulled something out-a silver rosary. Yui's hand flew to her neck, the realization of the one thing she had brought with her missing hitting her.

"I wouldn't have done anything to it." Miss Samuki tossed it over to her. "I just held onto it because you couldn't while you were unconscious." The black haired woman walked from the opposite side of the bed to the door and turned the handle. "Let's get you situated shall we?"

"Um..." Yui's eyes met the older woman's sharpened red. Miss Samuki's almost glowing in the light reflecting off of her glasses. She slowly pulled the door back and moved her hand off the door handle.

"What is it, Miss Komori?"

"You keep mentioning a procedure." Yui paused and tightened the grip on her rosary. "What exactly was the procedure?"

"It's a long story."

"I just want to know what you did."

"Take three steps forward and look to the left of you want to know."

Yui took a step back. "Why?"

The black haired woman closed her eyes and leaned against the door putting her hands in her lab coat pocket. "Your answer is there, Miss Yui. If I told you what was done, you wouldn't believe me."

"Why not?"

"It wouldn't seem plausible to you." Miss Samuki took her glasses off and wiped them. "You're welcome to not look and walk past the mirror on your left without seeing what happened. But then-"

"I...I want to know!" Yui walked forward. The woman gestured to her left.

Yui looked into the mirror and saw the same bright blood red eyes as Miss Samuki staring back at her.

Then everything went dark.
