Two Years of News

Lily Potter smiled as she sealed the envelope addressed to her best friend who she hadn't seen since her 6th year at Hogwarts.

Gwen had moved to America to escape the war long before Lily became friends with her husband and now they were going to surprise her.

She didn't know that Lily had ever even been nice to James. So after Lily and James' wedding they agreed to send her pictures as soon as they had their first child.

Now Harry was five months old and she was going to send pictures.

James chose that moment to come bursting through the door. Lily kissed her husband softly and then handed the letter to him.

"James, be a dear and give this to Hermes so he can deliver it to Gwen."

LIly realized her mistake as soon as the words slipped off her tongue. In seconds standing before her was a black stag. She laughed at her husband as her turned back to human ushered him away.

Gwen Sorenson smiled as she saw the owl fly in through the window. She hadn't heard from Lily two years and wanted to know what was going on with her best friend. She opened the letter to reveal the neat handwriting she had come to know as Lily Evans'.

Dear Gwen,

I haven't written in so long but my life became very busy with the war and my family. That is right family. I was married two years ago and now have a son who is five months old. I wish you could meet Harry I know you would love him.

He looks just like his father but has my eyes. Alice was married to Frank and they now have a little boy named Neville. Marlene was engaged to Sirius before she was killed a few months ago.

Fabian and Gideon were also killed in a Death Eater attack. Their younger sister Molly is fine. She and Arthur Weasley have their seventh on the way. She is hoping this one will be a girl.

Petunia and the Whale now have a son they named Dudley.

I enclosed pictures of my wedding and Harry. I wish you could come and visit.

Lily

Gwen laughed, it was so typical of Lily to not mention her husbands name. She wondered how James was feeling about the marriage. Curious what Lily's husband looked like she reached into he envelope and pulled out a packet of photos.

The first was of a small cottage that she guessed was Lily's new house. Under that was a picture of her best friend holding a small baby. Next was of her wedding, Gwen smiled at the picture as Lily and her new husband kissed. They were clearly very much in love but she couldn't see him very well. The next one was of Lily holding Harry again but this time she could see some of the baby's features.

He clearly had Lily's eyes but also had black hair. Black hair that Gwen had seen before.

The last one showed the same thing but this time James Potter had his arm around Lily's waist and she was smiling as he leaned in and kissed her temple.

Hiding in America or not Gwen had to see her friend.

With a pop Gwen arrived on the door step of the cottage that she had seen on the picture.

Without waiting for invitation she barged in and walked into the kitchen. Sitting on the counter was Lily kissing someone who was clearly, last time Gwen had checked, her worst enemy.

Gwen shrieked and the couple pulled apart.

"LILY EVANS I HEAR NOTHING FROM YOU FOR TWO YEARS AND THEN I GET A LETTER SAYING THAT YOU AND JAMES FREAKING POTTER GOT MARRIED AND HAD A CHILD! IT WAS ABOUT TIME I AM SO GLAD YOU FINALY CAME TO YOUR SENSES!"

"Gwen, I am so glad to see you I can believe you came all the way over here just to tell me that."

"I also expect to meet Harry."

Lily smiled and ran upstairs to what Gwen supposed was Harry's room. Before James followed her he turned to Gwen and said. "You forgot it is Lily Potter now."
