Italianblend Runescape journal: 10/10/10
What a busy couple of days! I had just transferred to the Lumbridge area to study with one of the castle chefs in the hopes of one day becoming a full chef myself. Naturally, I was given a menial task of fetching some random ingredients from one of the basements surrounding the castle. I guess a chef has to start somewhere.
Also naturally, I got lost. Not after long did I find myself in a strange basement, and as luck would have it, a mighty dragon casually strolling around. Luckily, a noble knight, Sir Vant was there to help trap the dragon underground. We had outsmarted the dragon, and soon after, I was guided by a man named Roddeck, who led us out of that blasted cellar. Never again will I go down there!
Harboring some ill-feelings for my "master" chef, I decided to unwind for a day or two. I checked the castle boards for people who were in need of help. One of the messages read "Ernest the Chicken." Being a cook, I figured this would lead to some culinary action, so I decided to head to Draynor Manor, which was north of the village.
Outside, a woman named Veronica approached me and told me that her friend, Ernest, entered the manor some time ago, but has not come out. She was afraid to go in after him and asked me to help. Naturally, I decided to help. Naturally. I took one step inside the manor and for the first time in my life I started to believe in ghosts. This place was haunted. Wonderful: first a dragon who almost killed me, then a haunted mansion. After today, I thought, I might decide that coming to Lumbridge was not worth it.
Ghosts, plain as day, were wandering around this wretched place. Maybe I was hallucinating. But, surely not, they were ghosts. My instinct was to turn back, but poor Veronica may never see her friend again if I don't help. The ghosts showed little interest in me. I crept upstairs nervously to see if I could find Mr. Ernest and get out of there in a flash. On the upper level, I found a ladder, which led to a room with strange looking machines. There was a strange man standing there and I called out to him… "Ernest?" Then I heard a chicken bawk. The man explained that his name was Professor Oddenstein, and that there was an accident which turned Mr. Ernest into a chicken. He needed some parts for his machine, which were spread out about the manor. Of course, I was the one to retrieve them.
I found an oil can in the basement (after about an hour of pulling levers to trap doors…whoever designed this place was certainly paranoid). I also found a bottle of poison and a shovel. I crept down another set of stairs and found a coffin. As soon as I touched the coffin, a large vampirish man came after me. I died!
I found myself sitting in a casual room looking at the grim reaper! How horrified I was! He casually explained that this was a magical place and that I was not actually dead. He created a portal to the living life and I took it. I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with him!
A strange experience: dying, and ressurecting. On any other day, I would've been frightened out of my mind, but I've seen things today that would chill anybody's soul, and this humerous way of dying seemed unimportant somehow.
Luckily, I found another adventurer inside the manor. This brace soul helped me fend off a walking zombie. We gathered the rest of the materials, and I quickly proceeded to the Professor. With the parts he needed, Mr. Ernest was turned back into a human.
I came here to learn to be a master chef. Instead, I've fought dragons, goblins, and had the soul scared out of me in a haunted house. Clearly, Lumbridge is not what I've expected. I have no more stregnth to continue this journal today. I am exausted and quite scared out of my mind. I suppose I will have nightmares for days to come. Perhaps this was all a dream. Yes…a dream. Yes….
