The 150th Hunger Games: The Survival of the fittest

This year is the 150th quarter quell, and whats a good quarter quell without a bit of a twist? This year 48 tributes will go into the games, 24 from the districts and 24 from divided sections of the capitol. In this years games, only one thing is certain. With this many tributes, it really is survival of the fittest. *SYOT open*

1. Chapter 1

"We're live in… 1, 2, 3." The camera man says, as President Heronwood makes his way up to the podium. He strides up the platform with a spring in his step, this is the day he had been waiting for since he was elected as president, fifteen years ago.

"People of Panem, I am very honoured to be reading out the card for the 150th Hunger Games, the sixth quarter quell." Heronwood booms to the camera, an arrogant smirk appears on his face "After the rebellion 150 years ago, it was decreed that the districts must pay the price for…"

He continues his mandatory, well-worn speech. The same speech he has said for the last fifteen years, although no one has really noticed, because they all tune out after the opening sentence anyway. Heronwood knows this, the speech even bores him, all he wants to do is open the envelope sealing the fates of the unimportant, children of the districts. He silently wonders what is inside the envelope that has been sealed for 150 years? Although most of the Presidents before him opened the envelope before the ceremony and tampered with it, he himself wants to be surprised about how the bloodshed will unfold. Will it be triple the amount of tributes? Careers only? Or could it even be the reaping age lowered from twelve to eighteen, to five to eleven? His heart races with anticipation as a small boy delivers him a dusty envelope, labelled in old calligraphy, 150.

"People of Panem, the 150th quarter quell will have double the tributes – Mother of God!" His smug grin falls off his face as he continues to read the card, "and due to the fact that the uprising was the result of rebels from the district fighting alongside of rebels from the capitol, these games will include: The mandatory twenty four tributes from the district, and twenty four tributes selected from the c-capitol."
