"So… not to pry, but why did you do it?"

"Same reason you did." Lana turned to watch Lois take a drag from her cigarette. "You shouldn't smoke."

"I don't. I quit." She took another drag, smiling as she did. "So, enlighten me. Why did I do it?"

"To move on. To get over him. To hurt him, just a little."

Lois raised a brow. "And this has nothing at all to do with you and me?"

Lana looked away. Their breathing and bodies had relaxed but the rest of the room showed clear evidence of their previous actions. The sheets loosely wrapped around them, the floor covered in stray clothing, forced off by their owners' aching needs.

"Well?" Lois pressed.

"Well what? Of course this isn't about us. When is it ever? It's always Clark."

Lana spoke his name forcefully, as if she wasn't speaking to Lois at all, but as if Clark was really there in the room. Lois fought the urge to search the apartment to make sure he really wasn't.

"Do you hate him, or something? Do you love him?"

Lana gave a laugh and looked at her. "Honestly, I don't know anymore. He was just some guy who lived on a farm across the field from me. He was cute and had a crush and broke my heart again and again and again and was always there to pick up the pieces. And I loved him so much I was consumed in anger."

Lois took another drag. "I don't think I've felt that for anybody. Not even him."

Lana reached over and grabbed the cigarette and brought it to her own mouth. "You quit, remember? What do you feel about him?" She drew a deep breath and felt the sweet nicotine infused smoke waft down into her lungs. So deep she could feel it spread like a rain cloud and pour addictive acid rain. She wanted another shower.

"Attraction. Friendship. Annoyance. All the usual symptoms. I guess I sort of fell for his farm boy act accidentally. I already picked out my dream man, but he got in the way. I only wanted to have a bit of fun, you know, live the Metropolis life. I didn't know with Clark I'd be swept away. And that I'd fall."

Lana brushed her fingers carrying the cigarette over Lois' kips. Feeding her addiction. Lois breathed it in, her tongue darting out briefly to touch Lana's fingers.

"You know, we really should quit."

Author's Note: Well, I used to be obsessed with this show, and then stopped and I just started back up again. I really like all of Clark's girlfriends. Even Alicia. Obviously Lois is the one meant for him but I really liked Lana. So I thought... why not a Lois/Lana moment? It was meant to be femslashy, but all they really do is talk about their boyfriend. Shameful lesbians.
