AN: I don't own Hunger Games. This is the first Hunger Games story I've written, and it's been a while since I've read the Hunger Games. I've had this idea for a while and decided to finally write it down. I hope you guys love this story as much as I will enjoy writing it. Now, on with the Chapter!
Chapter 1
The Picking…
"So the tribute for District 10 will be Alayna Fields!" The words still echoed through my mind. I wasn't really a fighter. I never planned to be. Now I had to kill someone, because they permitted it! It wasn't right! It wasn't fair! I sighed, tugging at my hair. My mother divorced. I was an only child. This couldn't get any worse! Then, I began to wonder what would happen. Who would win? I heard there was a boy in my district. I wondered what he was like.
Then, I silently began to wonder what would happen to my mother if I died. If I didn't when the Hunger Games. She was divorced, I was an only child. She needed me, as much as I needed her. I couldn't loose. I had to win, for both of us.
"Alayna?" A woman entered the room I was ushered in. I nodded my head. I never was the talkative one. "I'm your Stylist, Hannah Remora. Just call me Hannah." She prodded. I nodded my head again, watching her silently. "Your tribute partner will be in here in a bit. He's with your Avox, talking about the Games." She mentioned. I just stared at her and she sighed, walking over to some eisle looking thing.
The door suddenly opened and I looked over. A young boy and an older man waked in, talking intensely. The older man looked at me and his eyes brightened. "Hi. You must be Alayna Fields. It's nice to finally meet you," He smiled. I just shrugged, and he still kept smiling.
The boy that was beside the man turned to look at me. He looked familiar. I just couldn't picture why. "Hi. My name is Gregory Smith." He introduced. My eyes suddenly widened. No. It couldn't be the same Gregory. Could it?
I just nodded my head and he sighed. He turned to look at our Avox and Stylist. "So, when will we begin?" He asked.
"In a minute, let's get introductions out of the way. I'm Matthew Stonerock. Most call me Matt." He introduced with a bow. I smiled at him. My Avox and Stylist both seemed really nice.
"Your Alayna?" A sudden outburst sounded and I looked at Greg, who just stared at me. I nodded my head. "Remember me? We were in school together!" He sounded surprised that I would be here. "Aren't you an only child?" He asked again.
I nodded my head, eyes widening. So he was the same Gregory. I should've known.
I heard Matt chuckle, "So this will be interesting," He mused, watching us intently. "I wonder how this will end." I flinched when he said that. The end, It was just all too soon. I had a feeling I would die. I wasn't the fighter. I wasn't talkative, nor did I have experience in being a fighter. Or a hunter, for that matter. Father always did that for me and my mum. I realized that this would end fataly, and I silently wished the end would come soon. So I didn't have to go through all of that.
A sudden thought entered my mind. If I died, a part of my mum would die too. And she already has so much token away from her. Her love of her life, and now me. I had to win. For her, and for my family.
AN: So, didja like it? Sorry it's kinda short. I didn't have this planned beforehand. Most of the other Chapters will be longer, I promise.
