AN: This is after the last episode. To those who might be worried, I am not giving this priority over Second Chance! I have several chapter pre-typed and the posting will be more sporadic until I have either one finished. That said, I will be updating this on Thursdays along with Second Chance until I run out of chapters. When that happens, this one will most likely go on Hiatus until Second Chance is finished. I'll keep you guys updated on the status of it, though :) Enjoy~
~Mom and Dad
"Danny! Can you come down here, please? Your father and I want to talk to you," Maddie Fenton yells up the stairs to her son, who's been hiding in his bedroom. He groans from hearing her say the words he's been dreading since he revealed himself. Of course his parents were proud of him, but he had a lot of explaining to do and plenty of time to do it since school had been cancelled for the rest of the week. He's not even sure how he would go back to school with everyone knowing about him. He gets up off his bed and makes his way down the stairs and into the kitchen where his parents and sister were at the table. He sighs and takes the empty seat.
"Okay, so, what do you want to talk about?" he asks though he knows the answer.
"We want to know about your powers, sweetheart. How long have you had them? How did you get them? Why didn't you tell us? Who all knew about them? How-" she lists off but cuts off when he smiles at her.
"Okay, I'll try my best. I've had them for a while now. A long while. It was when you guys built the Ghost Portal actually. That's how I got them, too."
"The Ghost Portal?" his dad asks, seeming calm and attentive for once in his life.
"Well, yeah. The day you guys finished it and it didn't work, I felt so bad for you. You had tried so hard. Sam convinced me to go inside it. I put on a jumpsuit first then I took a couple steps inside and accidentally pressed to "On" button. Bad placement of an "On/Off" switch by the way," he explains, but pauses to let it sink it. Jazz was watching their parents warily but calculatingly.
"And then what, Sweetie?" him mom prompts him.
"Well, I'll spare you the painful details about the actual thi-"
"It hurt you?! Oh, Danny, I'm so sorry, Hon!"
"It's okay. By now I've had plenty worse hits. Anyway, I somehow stumbled out of there and passed out. When I woke up, Tucker and Sam were the first thing I saw, but I didn't understand why they were staring at me like that. Looking back, they probably thought I was dead seeing as I was a ghost. I asked what was wrong and Sam got out that I needed to look in a mirror. When I looked, I saw Danny Phantom looking back at me. I freaked out obviously. After about half a hour of freaking, Sam was able to calm me down enough to look back in the mirror. Somewhere in all of that, I had changed back by accident. We started trying to figure it out then I could tell that I wasn't normal anymore."
"How did you know that anyway?" Jazz cuts in. She may have known about his powers, but had never asked many questions about them besides his abilities.
"I'm not really sure. I could just feel it. When I did, I could only think about that and unintentionally changed back into a ghost again," he answers then stops again.
"It took a while to get used to it. As far as I can tell, the powers get stronger slowly. The longer you've had them and practiced with them, the easier it is to use them and the more powerful they are. Now, to answer another of the exact questions you gave me, the only people who knew about it before everyone were Sam, Tucker, Jazz, and Plasmius."
"Vlad knew about you? And he didn't tell us?!" his dad reacts.
"No, because I told him I would tell on him if he told on me. He's been pretty much my mortal enemy since we found out about each other. He was more powerful than I was for a long time since he's had so much more practice. Though recently I sorta developed a couple new powers that he's never had."
"I wanna see!" Jack shouts, sounding like a little kid whining. Danny tilts his head to the side, looking at his dad curiously while his mom and sister look at him with scolding eyes.
"Well, I guess I could show you guys most of my powers down in the lab. I've practiced down there before with you guys' Practice Workshop thing." There's silence for a few moments after his offer then
"I want to see!" shouts from all three of them. Danny smiles a little then stands up from the table.
"We're doing this my way though, okay?"
The other three Fentons nod then Danny tells them to stand up and hold hands. He walks around the table and takes Jazz's hand. Effortlessly he makes himself then the rest of his family intangible and pulls them through the floor to the basement lab. He lands carefully and slowly on the floor. Jazz and Maddie stay on their feet, but Jack manages to fall backwards. Danny grins. He wouldn't have to hide anymore. He squeezes Jazz's hand once then lets go and walks to the center of the lab then faces them. Maddie helped Jack up in the time. She smiles at her son now, hiding her eagerness and curiosity for his sake. Danny looks at his parents then back at his sister, who nods once.
He raises his arms above his head and clenches his fists. "I'm Going Ghost!" he shouts, though he truly doesn't have a need for his battle cry anymore. Since he'd gotten his powers back, they all seemed to be a bit stronger, including his control. He transforms with no effort, the white circle of plasma energy expands around him and splits to go over his body. He's watching his parents as it happen. His sister is smiling since she's seen it many times before, but his parents wear identical expressions of shock. It still hadn't sunk into them entirely that their son is the Ghost-Boy they had hunted.
Danny grins at them and lowers his arms but keeps up his hands in a surrender position.
"Honestly, I've always been surprised nobody figured me out. Well, Jazz did, but she saw what just happened. But seriously. Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom are pretty similar names, plus my hair is the same except it's color and my voice is exactly the same." He was really just trying to ease the mood, but didn't expect the reaction he got.
"Oh, Jack, we've been such bad parents that we didn't recognize our own kid! We hunted him! Can you ever forgive us for it, Sweetie?" his mom's eyes fill with tears while she says this. Danny is taken aback. His mom didn't cry. EVER. He gives her a soft smile then goes slowly to her and hugs her tightly.
"Mom, I already have forgiven you guys. You didn't know it was me. You just saw a ghost, and it's your job to get rib of ghosts. You two aren't bad parents. You never have been. As for not recognizing me, nobody did, did they? Out of the entire world, nobody ever figured out it was me. Well, at least they didn't tell anyone if they did. I really should have told you guys sooner, but I was scared I would put you guys in danger. Well, more danger than you were in for me being anywhere near me anyway. Now, do you want to see?"
Maddie opens her mouth but then simply nods. Danny grins and goes invisible. He reappears, makes his left foot intangible, sticks it through the floor, brings it back up, and goes tangible once again. He jumps into the air and takes off, flying in random patterns. He picks up the speedometer Tucker had used before and passes it to Jazz. It was the type that would go off if the set speed was passed. They had reset it last time to his best, which was 112 MPH at the time (it was a while ago). He dives upward and continues flying, as fast as he can now. When he hears it beep with a reading over the set limit, he stops and lands next to his sister to look. He didn't expect it to be much different than before though.
"I'm up to 204?! SWEET!" he exclaims. He looks at his parents then swallows a laugh at their dumbfounded expressions. "Mom, Dad, it's okay," he reassures them. His mom gets a hold of herself then smiles at him.
"Of course it is, Sweetie. Because it's you."
He smiles back at her then floats over to the button. He slams the Practice button and floats higher. Random cardboard cut-outs of ghosts appear, and he uses every type of power he has to hit them minus the Ghostly Wail. That was one power his parents didn't have to see quite yet. He also didn't plan on telling them about the overshadowing. He couldn't imagine how mad they might be with that one since he'd used it on them before. He makes a quick forcefeild around himself to show the last one he would.
He turns off the practice and lands back in front of his parents. "You guys okay?" Maddie takes a minute but then nods and holds out her arms for a hug. Danny smiles and goes into her arms, and Jazz and Jack join in for a group hug, squishing Danny in the middle.
"Ugh, guys? I may be half-ghost, but I still need air," he says a little breathlessly so it's not as sarcastic as it was supposed to be. They let up on the tightness of the hug, but all four are smiling. They let go of each other, and Danny turns back to normal.
"Hey, now you can go out ghost hunting with me and be my sidekick!" his dad suddenly exclaims. Danny gives him a half-smile to fight a grimace. His mom tries to keep from laughing while Jazz openly facepalms.
"Alright, now, I think that's enough excitement for the time being. You need to rest since you're going back to school tomorrow," his mom says to get Danny out of having to reply. Danny opens his mouth to complain but his ghost sense comes out instead.
"Not quite done with excitement yet, Mom," he tells her as the Portal opens. Danny is a ghost within a second.
"I AM THE BOX GHOST!" the Box Ghost yells as he darts out.
"Really? I can't even have one day? C'mon! Ah well. This should be fun anyway. Plus, you guys get to watch me in fight now that you know it's me." Danny deliberately uses one index finger and hits him with a plasma ray. The Box Ghost dodges it, but doesn't dodge Danny's fist in his face. "Not that this will be very much of a fight," Danny tacks on.
"Hey! I have feelings, too, you know!" he protests.
Sorry, Boxy. That ending was just too fun, though :D Hope you guys like it!~ F, F, & R!~
