So! New story. Well, stories. Basically I'm just going to take Percy Jackson head canons that I find, and elaborate them a little. So.. shanks for reading, muah friends. ;) Just so you know,
Set after The Last Olympian, before The Lost Hero
I was walking back from the mess hall when I saw Will Solace.
"Will!" I called, running through the grass up to him, my ponytail flipping around behind me. I had been meaning to ask him something. My book had some medical things written on it, the one I was studying, and it kind of confused me.
Will paused, and I could see his back tensing. He turned around, "He-ey, Annabeth." His voice was weird, kind of timid and scared. I raised an eyebrow.
"Hi, Will," I said slowly, as if talking to a second grader.
The son of Apollo stood there awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck and hopping from foot to foot.
"Do you need to be somewhere?" I asked. I could feel the midday sun on me, and most of the campers were taking shelter from the piercing heat. It was an irregularly hot summer this year, but I didn't mind it much. It just meant more swims in the lake with Percy. The thought brought the corner of my mouth up a little, but I brought my mind back to the present.
"Me?" Will asked. "N-no, no. I'm good. I mean, I can... help you. Do you need something?" His words were rushed, and was looking over his shoulder as if he didn't want someone to see him here with me.
"Yeah," I responded. "I need some help with a medical term I came across. I was wondering if atherosclerosis or arteriostenosis happens more. I mean, they both pertain to the artery, but atherosclerosis is more the hardening through deposition of calcium and cholesterol of the arterial walls, while arteriostenosis is ossification." I paused, frowning. "Well, I just need to show you, it'll be easier. Can you walk with me to my cabin so I can get the book?"
Will looked like a fish out of water, his mouth opening and closing with no sound. "Um..."
I spread my hand out in a seriously? way. What was wrong with him? "You okay, Will?"
He nodded, "I'm fine, just fine. But I need to go, I forgot I had, uh, a phone call. From my grandma. Yeah. So, see ya around, Annabeth, sorry I can't help now!" He turned and took off, running like the minotaur was chasing him. I threw my hands up in the air, muttering "Whatever."
It had been like this a lot lately. I'd try to talk to someone, and they'd get all fidgety and try to get away from me. I mean, was I that bad looking? No, I prefer to think my scariness was top-notch at the moment. But still, I couldn't get through a conversation without the person taking off. Except for Percy, he talks with me, obviously. Though he does get scared of me sometimes. And, like, Katie and Clarisse and my sisters... you know, come to think of it, I can talk to all the girls at camp. It was just the boys that wouldn't talk to me, other than Percy and my half-brothers. The rest seemed to be... avoiding me. Weird.
I had started to walk absentmindedly to my cabin. I passed Connor and Travis Stoll, and I waved at the two trouble-makers. They pretended to not see me, even though I know their eyes landed on me at one point.
A sigh of relief hit me when I entered my cabin, stepping out of the achingly hot sun. I wish Apollo would turn down the heat for a little. Malcolm was sitting at his desk, scribbling on a paper. He was planning on leaving to go to college this winter. Yale, to be specific. Most of the Athena kids ended up going to Yale or Harvard or someplace like that. It was easy to get an application, being the children of the goddess of wisdom and all.
"Hey, Mal," I said, sitting on my bed. He glanced over, lifting a hand for moment, then returning to his work. He was the only one in here; the others were doing activities outside. I fingered the pillow on my bed, running my hand over the fabric. My eyes traveled to my wall, where I had pictures framed and pinned up. They consisted of me and friends, like Thalia and Luke, and Katie Gardener, and even one with Sally when I had dropped in for a visit with Percy. Percy and I were in the biggest frame. It was after we had been dumped in the lake on his birthday. When we finally came back out, Travis held up a camera, and Percy grabbed me and planted a kiss on my cheek as I tried not to get squished by his bear hug. It brought a smile to my face.
Right now, Percy was helping Chiron with a sword-fighting lesson, and I was planning on meeting him afterwards. I usually helped with the lessons, but I got a break today. Not like I would be able to do much, since all the boys in camp won't really come near me.
"Malcolm?" I started, still staring at my pictures. When my brother grunted in reply, I pressed forward. "Have you realized that... I don't know, some people- like boys, hypothetically speaking- seem to be avoiding me?"
Malcolm didn't say anything, but I heard the scratching of his pen on the paper pause. I turned, facing my brother. My eyebrow rose when I saw a small smirk on his face.
"Percy didn't tell you, did he?" Malcolm said.
My eyes narrowed. "Tell me what?"
Malcolm looked at me for a second, contemplating something, then he reached out his hand towards a drawer on his desk. He shuffled through some papers as I got up and walked forward uncertainly. A paper fell out of the drawer, and I bent to pick it up. When I straightened my back, Malcolm was looking at a specific paper. His eyes scanned it quickly, then he held it out to me.
I took it, eyeing him suspiciously. My gaze fell to the paper, and I saw familiar writing scrawled on it. Percy.
To every male (excluding sons of Athena) at Camp Half-Blood:
・Hands to yourself. Annabeth's mine.
・Lonely? Too bad. I have Annabeth, you guys can get yourselves pizza or something.
・Checking Miss Chase out will only result in the flooding of your cabin.
・If you enjoy having functioning arms, don't try to kiss, hug or make any move on my girl.
・Unless you deny imortalily-immo-... well you know what I mean, but I forget how to spell it. But unless you deny that for her, I suggest you follow these rules.
Thank you. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, savior of Olympus. Ha, I like that title. Savior of Olympus. Savior of Olympus. That's right.
Just a warning.
I resisted the urge to smack my forehead and groan. But I couldn't help the smile breaking out on my face as I rolled my eyes. He was so stupid, but so sweet. And so protective. In other words, the perfect boyfriend, if I had any say.
"He wrote that, copied it, and sent one to every boy in the camp," Malcolm explained. "Since then, every guy had been scared to talk to you, thinking Percy will take it the wrong way. I can't blame them, Percy's kinda scary when it comes to protecting you. And even though the brother-" he pointed at himself "-is supposed to tease and dislike the boyfriend of his sister, I can't bring myself to do it. He's doing a pretty good job." I grinned at Malcolm's words.
"Can I hold on to this?" I asked, gesturing to the letter.
Malcolm shrugged, dipping his head. "Be my guest." I clutched it, turning to walk back out into the blistering sun. I headed towards the arena where lessons were going on. Sweat was prominent on every person practicing. Percy was in the middle of a spar with one of the upper swordsman of the camp, but he was still dominating. It didn't even look like Percy was trying that hard. A big crowd was gathered around, and some people have even come to watch from other activities. They were cheering on whoever they wanted, but I could hear a lot of "Percy!"s being shouted. I kept walking forward. Soon people noticed me, and they cleared a path for me so I could trudge straight up to the arena.
I held onto the paper in my hand, and stepped into the arena. People were looking curiously at me, wondering what I was doing. But I just stared at Percy. The sunlight glinted off his mess of ebony hair, and his green eyes sparkled as they saw sword attacks and parries. Gods, he was handsome.
The son of Ares he was fighting saw me walking up to them, and he paused. Percy frowned, then turned to see what was happening. When he saw me, his face split into a lop-sided grin, making my heart skip a beat.
"Hey, Wise Girl!" He said brightly, wiping his forehead. Riptide was pointed towards the ground, about three feet of deadly celestial bronze. "What's up?"
I stopped a little ways away from him, and then I held up the letter, eyebrow risen. Percy's smile faded, and he chuckled a little nervously, like I was going to reprimand him. A sheepish smile appeared on his face.
"Sorry, can't help it," he said, shrugging, that adorable smile on his face. It was contagious, and soon I was smiling, and some of the campers were laughing. They always found it hilarious when Percy got in trouble with me, mostly because I was really the only one who could chastise him with him actually listening.
But I wasn't going to tell him to stop being so over-protective. Honestly, I found it endearing, just a little. So I stepped forward, not caring about the sweat and dirt on Percy, and slid my hand around his neck, pulling his face down. The letter dropped to the floor beside us.
Our lips met, and I heard cat-calls and gagging from the crowd watching, and Connor yelled, "Get a room!" I didn't care. I just knew I was the luckiest girl. I felt Percy smile into our kiss as he deepened it, his hand tangling in my hair with the other around my waist, pulling me into him.
Then I felt myself being lifted, and Percy unlocked our lips. He threw me over his shoulder before I could protest, and started running towards the lake. The rest of the campers whooped and followed him. I just laughed as Percy carried me over to the water and jumped in, pulling me with him. I shrieked as the water surrounded me, and kicked for the surface. Strong arms came around me, and helped me up. We broke through, and I saw the demigods all jump in after us.
A massive water fight started. Girls against guys, obviously. Then it turned into a mud fight.
An hour later, with about twenty gallons of mud on every camper, we slumped out of the lake, laughing and shoving each other into the mud again. Chiron had been watching, a smile on his face. Malcolm beside him grinned. He held up a camera, yelling, "Say 'cheese'!"
"CHEESE!" A deafening roar went up from the throats of all of us. Percy was behind me, his muddy arms wrapped around my waist and his head on top of mine as we both smiled for the camera. I sunk back into his chest, as happy as a girl could get.
My smile widened. Another picture to put on my wall.
So, please review, and if you have any suggestions please tell me! I'm open for them! ALSO: I have another story I'm working on. This is an actual story, not just one shots. It's called "Forbidden Percabeth" if you want to check it out. Have a great day, and I hope you liked it! :)
