"I want the food over there." Lady Kenna ordered the servants in the middle of the ballroom.
It was Bash's birthday, and she was determined to do something nice for him. It wasis frist one with a title, which entitled him to a grand party. That was something he had never had before, and it made her heart sank. She had always had wonderful parties growing up, and Henry (more like Catherine) had taken that away from him.
"Do you think he'll like it, Mary? He doesn't like to make a big show about his birthday." Kenna bit her lip and looked at her friend.
"He'll love it, Kenna. Just relax, and everything will turn out fine. We're all helping you."
"I know. Thank you." She smiled and hugged her friend, who hugged back.
Once she had the ballroom looking exactly how she wanted, she had everyone hide and went off to get Bash.
"There is my beautiful wife," he greeted her and gave her a kiss. "Where have you been? I've been looking for you all day."
"I have something to show you. For your birthday." She returned the kiss and smiled at him.
"Kenna, you know I don't like to..."
"I know, I know. But I am your wife, you didn't think I would do something?"
"I shouldn't have expected any differently."
"No you shouldn't have," she smiled and grabbed his hand. "Now, come on."
...
"Surprise!" Everyone yelled when the couple walked in.
"What? What's this?" Bash asked and walked over to Mary to grab his and Kenna's 6-month-old daughter, Cosette.
"Your party," Kenna smiled and kissed his cheek. "Tell Papa how hard Mama worked on this, baby girl."
"Very hard," Mary chimed in. "She wanted it to be perfect for you."
"It's perfect, love," Bash smiled and kissed her. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. Now let's enjoy the party."
They did enjoy the party. Everyone danced and ate, the music played all night, the kids ran around, and even baby Cosette enjoyed herself. It was one of the best nights of Bash's life, and he had only his wife to thank for that.
