After a long, stressful day of working at the hospital, Mario was very exhausted and a bit grumpy. Coming home to his house in the mushroom kingdom at a very late hour, he was surprised to see Luigi on the couch wide awake with the TV on, looking a little sad. "What's a matter Weegee? Mario asked. "Oh... Mario, you're-a home, long day at-a work?" Mario replied, "Yeah, it-a was a pretty rough day." Mario put his doctor's coat on a chair and sat near Luigi. "But you didn't answer my-a question"... Luigi responded sounding annoyed, "No, Mario... everything's-a fine". "You-a sure Weegee?". "Yes Mario, I'm sure!" Luigi said angrily. "Okey dokey then, I don't know about-a you" Mario yawned and stretched his arms, "But imma gonna go get-a some sleep". "Yeah, yeah, i'll be in bed in a few minutes, goodnight, Mario". After Mario had walked upstairs, Luigi slouched down on the couch, looking depressed, he pulled from his pocket a small picture, it was a picture of him and his girlfriend, Princess Daisy. Looking at it for a long time, he could only think of that beautiful blue sparkle in her eyes, it made him smile. More and more memories of his love Daisy were being remembered, then he remembered something, not a happy memory, but rather a sad one... Recently, Daisy's Mother, the co-ruler and queen of Sarasaland, had become very ill, at such a high age, Daisy feared she may be in danger of dying. Daisy was to travel back to her home in Sarasaland for a few weeks, Luigi felt very bad for Daisy and was fine with her leaving for a couple weeks. At the time, Mario was unaware of this and Luigi didn't think it was important enough to tell him directly. Days turned into Weeks, and Weeks turned into Months. Luigi didn't want to sound rude by asking when she would return, so he waited, keeping his feelings hidden, even though it pained him very much to not be with his girlfriend for so long... 3 Months after she had left, Luigi had received a letter, it was from Daisy! Very excitedly, he opened the letter, having hope that he was about to be informed that his girlfriend would be returning home soon. However... this was not the case... The letter read:
Dear Luigi,
Words cannot describe how much it saddens me to tell you this, after all we have been through, all we have shared in our relationship. Luigi, please understand that I truly love you with all my heart, and I wish there was another way around this. Each night, I stay awake, thinking about you, thinking about our past, and dreaming of the beautiful future we could of had together. But Luigi, you must know, I can no longer see you, for I will not be returning to the mushroom kingdom. My Mother is expected to die, and here, at her possible last few days... I want to spend them with her... But Luigi, this means that after she is gone, I must take her place as Queen of Sarasaland... Doing so, I must protect my kingdom at all times, I would try to visit you time to time, but they wont allow the Queen to leave the kingdom... Luigi, I love you very much. But if I held on to this love, I wouldn't be able to live with myself or ever move on... Luigi, I must forget about you, I will always cherish the moments we shared, but eventually, i must move on... And i hope... You can do the same...

Remembering this, Luigi's happy memories vanished almost instantly, almost as if they never happened. Luigi could hear his heart beating loudly, but slowly... Luigi's eyes filled up with tears, he felt a tear run down his face, he tried to hold it in, he tried to forget... it was too much for him... the single tear fell down on the picture, distorting the colors. Luigi, held the picture close to his heart, he looked at it once more...
Luigi then ripped the picture in half, and threw it away...
In a whisper, Luigi said to himself...
"Goodbye, Daisy... I will never forget you..."
Luigi walked upstairs silently, and went to bed...
