lily/james.

year 1.

Lily was walking down the train, her parents had just dropped her off, they had wished her the best of luck. Petuina how ever told her, "she was a freak and has never been happier to have her gone." This had upset Lily, and what she had been thinking about while looking for a compartment to sit in. Severus had already boarded the train before she got there, so she knew no one. While deep in her thoughts she had not noticed the group of young looking boys walking towards her. They however had noticed her, more specifically one had noticed her. He was consumed by her beauty, he didn't notice that she was walking right into him. The both of them fell over, her books had fallen from her bag. He had reached over to pick them up when he saw what the book was, 'A Hogwarts History', when he started to ask her why she was reading it already before classes had even started, he got to first glace of her eyes. At that moment he became in tranced by them, they were bright green with just a shimmer of gold round her pupil. Lily had regained her composure, grabbed her bag from his hand and ran off. He and his friends then began to continue their way down the train, his thoughts were still consumed by her, that is when he came to the realization that he had never gotten her name.

Once the train had arrived at Hogwarts, all the first years were escorted to the lake where they would be arriving by boat. Lily had by then found Severus and was sitting beside him in one of the boats, both admiring the beauty of the school. Lily kept thinking about her encounter with that strange boy on the train, he didn't say anything, not even sorry, he just kept staring at her. She didn't know why she couldn't get her mind off of a boy who's name she didn't even know. By this point Lily hadn't noticed that the boats had arrived at the school, and Severus was holding his hand out towards her to help her out. The two of them walked with the group into the school. The first years had reached the great all where they were explained how they would be sorted in to their houses, it wasn't long before Lily's name was called. The hat was placed on top of her head, she could her it whispering in her ear, "Hmm, bright young one we have here, intelligence, wit, and very independent. Perfect for Ravenclaw, you would do very well in there, but there is also something else... there is great courage in your heart, you will protect those you love at an cost and have the bravery to stand up for what you believe to be right. I will have to say... GRYFFINDOR." Lily then skipped over to her house, the boy she had met on the train had been watching her the whole time. 'Lily Evans' he had thought in his head, he learned her name and it was as beautiful as the girl it belonged to. When it was his time to get sorted, he walked up thinking, just put me in Gryffindor. THe hat had barley sat on his head before it shouted out "GRYFFINDOR." He smiled and walked straight over to where Lily was sitting, she had not been paying attention so when he sat down beside her she was startled. He had then extended his hand and said, "Nice to meet you Lily, my name is James, James Potter.", she shook his hand, thinking now he doesn't seem to be all that bad. It wasn't till towards the end of the sorting when Severus went up and got sorted in to Slytherin, James had made a mean joke about him to his three friends that Lily had realized that she did and always will hate James Potter.
