Okay, so I literally finished watching the new episode maybe fifteen minutes ago. And now I have a quick oneshot for you all. This time it takes place during that last scene in the car or there about. Just a quick peek inside Dean's mind at the end of the episode.
Spoilers: Up to 7.13! (The Slice Girls)
DISCLAIMER: Not mine! You would know if I did. Gabriel and Balthazar and Cas and Bobby would all be back, and Gabe and Balthy would be wrecking complete havoc on the poor Winchesters. But alas, that's not happening. Yet. I'm still staying hopeful. : ) But I don't own Supernatural or anything like that. : /
Enjoy!
Maybe…
If only…
It could…
Aborted thoughts and ideas played through Dean's head, even as he covered up his mental turmoil with a slightly rambling rant. He truly did want to kill every single one of those Amazon bitches. But maybe not for the right reason. If there even is a right reason.
Emma Winchester. It kinda had a nice ring to it. Emma Winchester. His daughter. And sure, maybe she was half psycho, man killing monster. But she was still half human. Half him. And when she had come knocking on his door, a part of Dean really, really hoped that maybe, just maybe, she was telling the truth. That maybe Emma really did want to run away and start anew. Crazier things had happened? Right?
"Don't let him hurt me!"
That last look that she gave him… Dean knew that he would be seeing it in his dreams tonight. It was so similar to the one Sammy used to give him a long time ago. Back when life was easy and simple. It was Sammy's first real hunt. A poltergeist. Sammy must have been ten or something like that. It was supposed to be a simple salt and burn. And Dean guessed that technically it was. Dad had found the bones, and the dead serial killer went up in flames. But not before the son of a bitch had thrown Dean across the room and cornered Sammy with a wicked looking knife in hand. Sammy had shot him that same desperate look. Dean reacted on instinct. He… well he used to have the scar on his back shoulder to prove it. Maybe that's what was messing with his mind. Emma had reminded him so much of Sammy in her last moments. Dean couldn't reconcile the two.
So he lied to Sam and said that he would have pulled the trigger. Not that Sam could talk. He couldn't kill Amy now, could he? No! He couldn't! So why did he expect Dean to be able to do any different? To his own daughter! Come on!
Of course, that quiet voice in the back of his kind that Dean absolutely hated had to contribute to his internal ranting. Dean couldn't really talk either. He had killed Amy after all, when Sam couldn't. When Sam swore that she was done. That quiet voice sounded far too smug for Dean's liking. It was like the universe was dishing out more ironic, poetic justice.
But Emma Winchester. It did have a nice ring to it.
Review? : )
