On the morning of October 31st, 1981, James Potter couldn't stop grinning.

"It's the day," he kept on telling Lily, looking over at the door and bouncing Harry in his arms.

"I can't believe I agreed to this," she kept on saying, over and over again.

At around five in the afternoon, the sun started to go down and Sirius Black burst through their front door, carrying two big bags and dragging along Remus behind him.

"Prongs! It's the day!" he said grinning.

"I tried to tell him no," Remus said, giving Lily a sad look.

Sirius handed one of the bags to James, who handed Harry to Remus and took Lily's hand, leading her off into the direction of their bedroom.

"I hate you," she said, following him and looking slightly upset.

"Love you too, Lils," he replied, still grinning.

Still in the living room, Sirius opened the other bag, which held different animal costumes. He tossed one to Remus.

"Put that on. I'll dress Harry," he ordered, before picking up another costume, a small deer costume, fit for a baby, and taking Harry from Remus. Remus left to get dressed in the bathroom, and Sirius turned his attention to the baby. "Okay, Mini Prongs, let's get you dressed."

Handling Harry quite carefully, as if he was a bomb, Sirius undressed him. He then picked up the costume, but, while he was trying to figure out which way it went on, Harry started to crawl away.

"Wait, no, come back here!" Sirius dropped the costume and pulled Harry back to him. Placing Harry on the floor, Sirius picked up the costume again and tried to look at how it worked. He figured it out, but before he could put in on Harry, he crawled away.

Sirius closed his eyes for a count of ten, before calling, "Moony!"

From the bathroom, Remus stepped out, wearing a werewolf costume and a glare on his face.

"What do you want?" he said, taking a deep breath. Sirius grinned.

"You look great, Moony." Remus gave him a withering look. "It's your turn with the baby," he said, standing up and handing Remus the naked baby. "I'm going to go get changed."

Sirius scooped up the last costume from the floor and left to the bathroom. As soon as he left, James and Lily walked out, wearing matching costumes—a doe and a buck.

"Don't we look cute, Moony?" James asked, walking into the living room, leading Lily by the hand.

"I guess it is pretty cute," Lily conceded. James grinned. Remus straightened up and handed Lily Harry, who was wearing the third part to their costume—a little fawn. Lily's eyes melted, looking at her son.

"Remus take a picture of us?" James asked, motioning to the camera sitting on their mantel. Remus nodded, grabbed the camera and snapped the small family of deer standing next to the wall.

With a bang, Sirius flung open the bathroom door, and emerged, in a dog costume.

"I look bloody brilliant!" he said, his grin reaching his ears. "Now then, let's go get some candy!"
