Welcome to my very first story! I'm Beatrix, and I'm deciding to write a Hunger Games SYOT. I'm Beatrix, and I hope you like what I'm writing. Let's see if this turns out well! Starting with a small introductory chapter, yes? Starting in three, two, one!
Paslee Daywood, 15, Capitol Citizen
Paslee was a regular Capitol girl, eager to see what would be happening for this, the 300th Hunger Games. This evening was the reading of the cards, an event that no one would dare miss, it was too exciting.
At exactly nine o'clock pm, the television came on, ready for the president, Geiger Agew, to inform everyone in Panem of the exciting twist for the Hunger Games.
"Welcome, everyone, to the start of the 300th Hunger Games. As you know, it is also the 12th Quarter Quell, which means a special qualification will be imposed upon the event. As we go forward to the future, let us first remember the past."
Agew then proceeded to read the previous Quell twists. She had seen some of them in reruns through the years, but now she learned them all. Some were neat, while others seemed extremely stupid.
"And now for this year's Quell…" he took a small slip of paper from a young boy nearby. Opening it, he read, "In order to remind the districts that no one was spared in the rebellions, neither children or young adult, the tributes will be reaped exclusively from the ages of twelve and eighteen. Citizens from thirteen to seventeen will not be eligible this reaping."
With a few more flourishing words, the broadcast ended, leaving Paslee sitting on the couch, thinking about the twist. Different, definitely.
Tada! There you have it. Submit tributes that are only either twelve or eighteen. I'm not writing reapings, I'll be starting at the train rides. I see lots of SYOTs that don't make it through that, so I'll move past it. Just one thing: please don't make all the twelves adorable sweeties. Not saying I want bloodthirsties either, both are opposite extremes. Make them natural twelve-year-olds as much as possible. Here's the form, which will also be on my profile:
