The door to Stefan's room was slightly open, and Damon could see Katherine laying on Stefan's bed. He pushes the door for a wider view.

"What are you still doing here? Shouldn't you be running away or something? Maybe try to save your precious Stefan along the way?"

Katherine rolls her eyes. "Shouldn't you be?" she thinks. But instead, she goes on with what she's been doing—reading Stefan's diaries from 1864. If Stefan were there he would've surely clawed out on her again, but he isn't, and so she just goes on.

Damon doesn't leave, still.

"Where's Elena?" Katherine asks him.

"Shopping with Caroline." He sips on a glass of wine.

"Why didn't you come with them? I suppose tailing on Elena seems more enjoyable for you than standing by and being forced to think of how bad what you're doing is," Katherine responds sarcastically.

"I'm not going to feel bad about my feelings, Katherine."

"Then how about you feel bad about how your brother who's currently sacrificing himself to give you and Elena a longer lifeline is being backstabbed and cheated on by his girlfriend and his beloved brother?"

Damon couldn't help himself. He dashes off to Katherine, pulling her up from Stefan's bed and shoving her against the wall, her throat clasped inside Damon's hands.

"You don't think I feel bad? You don't think I want to save my brother? If I knew of a way to save him without getting both of us killed, I would."

"And Elena?"

"That's none of your business."

Katherine pushes Damon back and now they're against the opposite side of the room, Katherine now holding Damon's neck.

"Actually, Damon, it is my business," she smiles for a second, and then she's all serious again. "If you being with Elena doesn't hurt Stefan at all, trust me, she's yours and I wouldn't give a damn about it. But I know how he'll feel, and I won't allow him to feel that way."

"Oh, so now you care more about Stefan's feelings than you do about owning him?"

Katherine lets go of Damon. She doesn't know what to answer as she's confused herself. But deep down, all she knows is one thing. "I care about him. That's all that matters."
