Dedicated to my dear Ki aka Kia Vail-Kagami. Get better soon, my love!
I'm sorry for the bad English but I haven't written any fanfics in English for ages!
Fever
By Mirri
„101.8 degree.", Raziel muttered as he looked at the thermometer. "So… is this good or bad for a vampire?" He shrugged and put the thermometer on a little table next to his bed.
It was depressing to be lying in bed while Kain and the others were planning their next moves. Everytime he had tried to steal out of his bed to join the others they had ignored him, which depressed him even more. Normally he wasn't easy to ignore but maybe his disease had paralysed his ability to get on his bretheren's nerves. He hab tried to attract their attention for a long time until Kain had finally lost his patience. Nosgoth's ruler had ordered his eldest son to get back into his bed at once.
So he lay in his bed, buried under three blankets. He had already tried to sleep but he was wide awake and the longer he tried, the more he had to think about what the others were doing. It was hard for him to keep out of the clans business' and so this was the first time he really had to.
It didn't take very long until he got bored and so he thought about something to take his mind off things. He looked out of the window where he could see the dark clouds which covered Nosgoth like the blankets covered him. Once more he realised that Nosgoth's sky was far beyond boredom.
There weren't any books to read because he knew every single one of them by heart.
With a deep sigh he sank back into his pillows. He needed to get some entertaining stuff into his room just in case he'd find himself in a situation like this again.
Before he could continue to listen to his own thoughts, his nose started to tickle. Raziel grabbed a red cloth which lay under the thermometer but he wasn't fast enough. He had to sneeze really hard and as if this wasn't enough his nose started to run in the same moment.
'This is fantastic!', his mind hissed. 'One of Nosgoth's most powerful vampires is going to die because of a cold!' Still he was surprised that vampires were able to catch a cold at all.
Suddenly he heard someone knocking at his door. Raziel blew his nose, before he croaked, "Come in!"
The door opened and Turel entered the room. He carried a tray on which Raziel could see a bowl filled with a steaming liquid. "Feeling any better?", Turel asked and placed the tray on the table. His question was answered by another sneeze.
"What is this supposed to be?", Raziel asked as his nose stopped running for a moment.
Turel grinned. "This is a special blood-broth."
Raziel stared at his brother. " A what?"
"You looked so pale and so we thought you might need a drink." The younger vampire sat down on the edge of the bed and smiled.
Still confused, Raziel looked into the bowl and watched the liquid. "What are those little bits?", hes asked.
"Raw flesh.", Turel explained. "Kain said that there has to be flesh in a good broth."
"And you really want me to eat this?" He preferred to die because of a horrible disease and not because of blood poisoning.
When he saw that his brother didn't want to taste the cooked blood Turel grabbed the spoon, dipped it into the liquid and looked at Raziel. "Please. You have to taste it at least once."
Raziel sighed. "This is going to be the last thing I'll ever do." Then he opened his mouth and tasted the offered blood. He looked at Turel with a puzzled expression on his face. "That's good.", he admitted.
His brother grinned. "I told you, didn't I!"
And so Turel spent the rest of the day feeding and entertaining his elder brother until he finally fell asleep.
"Get well brother.", the tall vampire whispered with a smile on his face as he left the room.
