It was a cold winter day, Nico was visiting somewhere that was once his second home:the graveyard. To see his sister and his mother, for the first time in months.
His friends urged him to go,
Even there parents thought so.
So did his dad, Hank, or as most people call him Hades because of his somber mood all the time.
Nico did as told, wearing his old aviator jacket that his mother got him and clutching his myth'o'magic figurine of Hades. Tokens from them.
He didn't like to talk about how he felt about his mom and sisters death, the pain was just to much to bear. But, the memory haunts him every single day.
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" cheered a little five year old Nico
Replying to her antsy child Maria DI' Angelo spoke"Yes sweetie?"
"Where are we going?"
"To see your daddy!"
"My dada?"
"Yes sweetie, you and your big sister Bianca are going to see your daddy for the first time!"
And they did.
Everything was fuzzy afterwords for Nico. He didn't remember seeing his dad but he remembered the horrible scene that played afterwords.
Boom, that's all he heard. So did Bianca. But, something was wrong his mommy was still inside.
And she never came out. But, his father did and he explained what happened
"Your mommy got stuck in the hotel, and a bad guy decided to blow it up. I'm sorry little ones, your mommy Is dead.
His world stopped, he had no mom. He felt that someone just ripped his soul out. But, his misery didn't end there, something worse happened.
Something even more terrible.
Bianca died three years later. He was eight when she left Nico for a dream internship and died in a chemical fire. Nico hated that guy, his name was Dr. Z and he wanted to try to make lightning help make a more powerful type of electrical energy. When the experiment started failing, he ran away from it and let the others die, just to save his life. And that terrible guy, was his uncle.
He was his uncle, he couldn't even save his own niece. He was a terrible man and Nico always remembered him for that.
Nico looked down at the graves lying next to each other.
"Here lies Bianca Di' Angelo.
Loved sister
Cherished daughter"
"Here lies Maria Di' Angelo
Beautiful and amazing mother, and lover
The worlds best sister"
He wished that these stones said more. He wished that they explained his mother and his sisters selflessness, he wished it explained how they died, he wished they explained how amazing they were. Something more then this simple little phrases.
Just something more.
But for now at this moment this was good enough, he still had his friends and his father, he wasn't alone. He held on to them but wasn't as sad. He took a shovel and started digging a little hole. He dug a little hole in the middle of the two graves and put the little figurine of Hades in. He was letting go, and he didn't think they would mind. He filled the hole up with the dry dirt and compressed it.
They wouldn't mind.
He had changed for the greater good.
Nico was finally happy.
