At the line 'his hair is always a mess' i started singing Meet Virginia.
To him, beauty has always equaled perfection. Perfect symmetry and perfect form have always been what he has valued, along with the beauty they make together.
Nagisa-kun is not perfect.
He is far too loud, and short, and his hair is always a mess. Rei cannot think of one thing perfect about him. Even Nagisa's swimming is not perfect, not really, and is nowhere near as beautiful as Haruka-senpai's.
But still, something about him mesmerizes Rei. Maybe it is the way he is always happy, smiling as though the world is perfect. Or the way he nuzzles his head onto others when he pouts. Even the way Nagisa will bug Rei is endearing, at least after it happens.
He does not know what it is about the short boy, but sometimes he will find himself staring at him, and a warm feeling will spread from his chest to his stomach.
He will find himself thinking that maybe, his ideal of 'beauty' is not right.
Because he knows that, yes, Nagisa-kun may not be perfect. But he is undoubtedly beautiful.
