Tony Stark had no idea why Pepper Potts still put up with him. He had only brought her trouble since the day she started working for him. He probably would have left already, he would have gotten as far away from himself as possible. Every single time he screwed up she forgave him, no matter what it was. She still went to work as his assistant even when he was held as a hostage in Afghanistan. She stood by him when he announced Stark Industries would no longer be building weapons. She stood by him when she first found out he was Iron Man. She stood by him during the Stark Expo and he made her CEO of Stark Industries. He expected her to leave after they were both nearly killed in Monaco but she still she stayed. The moment he was really and truly afraid of Pepper leaving him for good was when Hammers drones were self destructing. He wouldn't have been able to live knowing he was the reason she died. He swept her off her feet and got her out of the way just in time. Even after they kissed, he still didn't know why she didn't just leave. She deserved so much better than him, she could do better than him, but still she stayed. She found the Hero in him even though he thought he wasn't the "Hero Type". She was such a smart head strong girl who could have had the world but she still fell in love in the worst way. Even though Tony didn't know why she stayed, he would never let her go. He'd fight for her until the end. And now here they were, in the beat up, Stark tower in New York city. She was looking around with her hands on her hips trying to take everything in. Tony had nearly died saving all of New York, the tower would need to under go some serious remodeling, all because of a stupid cube. Tony honestly felt bad. Almost everyday he made Pepper stressed out. She turned to look at him, clearly frustrated, but also worried. "I don't know why or how you put up with me Pep, you deserve so much better, if you don't leave me now...you'll never leave because I won't let you, but if you're lookin for heaven, Pepper it sure as hell ain't me." Tony said leaning against the counter with his hands in his pockets. "Tony, I put up with you because you're all i've got...sure you're destructive and you don't play well with others all the time but look at what you did today, you risked your life by flying that bomb up there. I stay with you because I love you, nothing will ever change that and you may not think you're heaven or the "hero type" but you're pretty damn close." Pepper said walking over to stand in front of him tears forming in her eyes. He wrapped one arm around her waist and the other around her shoulders, pulled her close and kissed her. "I love you too." He whispered after they broke apart, hugging her tight. "You may be a pain in my ass sometimes but there's one thing I can promise you, I will never leave you no matter how hard things get, as long as you promise to always come home to me." Pepper said pulling back a little to look at him. "I promise." He said before kissing her again.
