It is easier to ignore it. To distract and laugh. Make jokes. And these are all things that Gabriel is good at. Distractions. Distracting others. Distracting himself. Truth is, he is terrified of a world without distractions. If he isn't distracted he'll think about it. All of it. All of the fighting, the arguing, how it all turned into a war. How his family ripped itself apart. How no one noticed him.

He barely remembers what it was like when they all got along. When Lucifer and Michael would both play with him. Back then it didn't bother him when they were in their own little worlds. They still talked to him, played with him, and loved him.

And then it all stopped. The laughter, the jokes, he wasn't invited in their world anymore. He was closed off. Kicked out of their world.

Not that he wanted to listen to his brothers argue, or see them hurting but he wasn't allowed in…he couldn't comfort them, he couldn't distract them, and he certainly couldn't help them. But then again they always thought of him as the baby of the family. They were supposed to keep this stuff from him. Or at least that was their undoubtedly self important rationalization for keeping him out.

Sometimes he wonders how long it took them to notice he was gone.

Pricks.

Well bring it on. Bring on the apocalypse; let's just be done with the fighting, done with the bitching and complaining, no more façade of family, no more pretending to hold this family together.
