It started in the beginning when Yang took her sister into the woods, Ruby not knowing better than just being with her big sister, and having the time of her life in the wagon. So oblivious to her surroundings she did not see the beowolf lunge for her attempting to kill the two little girls. It was just a blink and the grim was gone.
"Yang, what are you doing out here with Ruby?" It was Qrow.
"I'm looking for my mommy, and I am taking Ruby with me so that we can both have a mommy again." Yang started crying, Qrow looked at both of them shaking his head.
"It's dangerous out here, how about we go home and eat some cookies, yea?" taking both back to the house. No one noticed a small grim pup following the trio back to Patch.
It has been a few years since the incident and the grim pup had its own unique set of bone armor. It was a solid blue skull on his head, and instead of blood red eyes instead it was a light sky blue. He turned his head to the sounds of playing and laughter.
"Come on Yang we gotta get going!" It was Ruby pulling on Yang to wherever it was she was taking her to.
"Ruby the park isn't going to go anywhere." Yang said letting herself get pulled by little Ruby. The blue hued grim looked on, watching them curious. He was sitting on his hind haunches in the bushes, not really knowing what to do. Instinct was telling him to attack, and yet he was not.
"Yang! What is it?" Ruby was now in front of the grim, startling it as she was reaching for the grim. It was euphoric once Ruby's little hand was on the grim's head stroking his armored head. Yang looked surprised, she saw pictures of grim before, but never a blue grim she wasn't sure.
"Ruby, bring it with you maybe uncle Qrow will know, or dad." Yang ran ahead back home with Ruby in tow, along with the little grim in her arms. Once home the girls searched the house for either their father or Qrow, it was Taiyang that they had found.
"Daddy, look what we found at the park." Ruby showed off the little blue hued grim in her arms. Taiyang was surprised, never once had he seen a grim like this. He was cautious, to say the least.
"Ruby, put it down now." He was as calm as could be, trying not to spook the girls. Once Ruby put the grim down he started to look for a way out. The grim didn't know what to do, he was confused, it was until it felt that euphoric feeling again. It was Ruby, petting its head, calming the grim down.
"Daddy can we keep him? I'll take such good care of him." Tai didn't know what to say, the grim looked more scared that feral like regular grim. He just didn't know what to do in a situation like this. Ruby looked so happy, but he didn't want to just say yes.
"I think I will name him Brody." Already naming the grim Ruby was attached. Brody the now named blue hued grim had a home in the Rose-Xiao-Long household.
"And that's how Brody became my best friend!" Is what Ruby was telling Wiess and Blake while they were both looking a bit suspicious towards the giant looking beowolf.
"He was always there for Yang and me and now he is here with us, I trained him really well and he can kick some serious butt!"
