Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Warning: Mild spoilers for all five books.

To Them

i.

To her, he was a nuisance.

To him, she was scary.

They were both trying to figure the other out.

ii.

To her, he was a partner-in-crime.

To him, she was a girl who kicked serious monster butt and looked good in t-shirts at the same time.

They would never admit it to each other, but they both were starting to think that maybe the other was okay.

iii.

To her, he was the only thing that kept her alive as she bore the weight of the sky.

To him, she was the reason he blushed whenever he thought about that fated meeting in the junkyard.

They were starting to realize that life wouldn't be so great if the other wasn't around.

iv.

To her, he was a part of the agonizing choice she knew must be made sooner or later.

To him, she was still smart, brave, and impossible to figure out.

They were learning that friendship (and possibly something more than that) was certainly not a piece of cake.

v.

To her, he was the stupid, reckless, brave Seaweed Brain that he'd always been, only now he felt like the part of her that had always been missing.

To him, she was that strong, faithful anchor that kept him tied to everything: his life, his mortality, and his heart.

They finally allowed that they could maybe – just maybe – make it work. It had taken them five years and a Second War of the Titans, but they were at long last realizing that, somewhere along the way, their fragile friendship had moved over for something else. Something that couldn't be more perfect.

A/N: This is my first published fanfic, so reviews would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
