If Sam had to describe his life in one word, he would have to say perfect. He had a stable job, a good apartment, good friends, money, but most importantly he had Rachel Berry. Nothing else mattered as long as he had her. She was perfect. She fit him perfectly. She completed him.
She was in his eyes and everyone else's eyes perfect. She was gorgeous with her natural looks, beautiful long curly hair, her pretty white smile, plumped lips, her tanned curvy body and those eyes that could make the angriest man feel complete and calm within seconds of just looking in them.
Sam had fallen for every single detail about her all in the matter of days. He spent a year working up the courage to ask her out, a month trying to steal kisses from her, a week planning the perfect date and a day to finally realise he had fallen head over heels in love with Rachel Barbra Berry.
He had imagined his perfect life with her. She would make it on Broadway; he would do a few modelling jobs and then settle for a job in the fire service. They would move back to Lima and she would work as a teacher at McKinley and he would work for the local Fire Station. They would have three children: two boys and a little girl. They would all have her driven personality, but cool and collected at the same time. They would have dirty blonde hair and then all of them would have her beautiful dark chocolate eyes. He would coach the little league and she would bake treats for the team. She would teach them how to sing and dance and he would teach them how to play guitar. It was the perfect future and now he could actually see it coming true.
Sam lay next to Rachel in their bedroom and watched her as she soundly slept. Her head rest perfectly on his bare chest and left arm was draped over his stomach. The sunlight seeking in through the curtain danced elegantly on her face, lighting up her natural features that Sam adored.
Sam couldn't believe she was lying next to him; he thought he had just dreamed it all up that they were perfectly entwined together. He remembers back to all those days he used to try and steal a kiss and all those sleepless nights he had and the daydreams when he pictured this. Sam was the underdog who finally got the girl and he was not ashamed to tell it to the world.
Sam had walked back into their bedroom with a tray with coffee and granola for Rachel. He placed it down at the foot of the bed and kissed Rachel's face gently and whispered "I love you," into her ear.
She smiled as he spoke those words and slowly opened her eyes to meet his emerald ones. "I love you too."
She blinked a few more times as Sam gently grazed his fingertips on the side on her face. She sat up and saw the breakfast he had made for her and smiled brightly as him. She kissed his lips softly and mumbled a thank you on his lips. He shook it off like it was no big deal, but by the look on Rachel's face he knew she knew the effort he had put in.
Sam moved the tray off the bed and lay down next to her again. Rachel leaned against his chest and looked up at him with her head propped on her hand. She smiled at his lovingly and her eyes twinkled and shone as the sunlight hit them. It was times like these when Sam wished he could freeze this moment and stay like this. If he could he would put this day back on replay and just keep reliving it. Sam looked down at her and realised that the tragic truth was if she didn't feel the same. His heart would fall apart if he heard someone else whisper her name.
Sam prayed to god that he wasn't a casualty and the he hoped she would just get up and leave. If their relationship didn't mean too much to her, but to him it's everything. And that's when Sam turned to Rachel and sang:
Truly, madly, deeply, I am.
Foolishly, completely falling,
And somehow you kicked all my walls in.
So baby say you'll always keep me.
Truly, madly, crazy, deeply in love with you.
