Chapter 1
October 11th
Konohagakure
Council Room
Sarutobi Hiruzen knew this was a bad idea the minute all seven of them entered the room. He should have known that, though they all sat at the table calmly, this would turn out to be a disaster. Having all the major clan heads in a room together? Bad idea. Telling them you have something they want? An equally bad idea. Informing the seven of them they would have to share? If Hiruzen had not been reinstated as Hokage, he would be six feet under.
"CHIDORI!" The room silenced and all eyes landed on the heart broken Anbu who was holding a blonde baby like a life line. As they stared at him, all that could be heard was the screaming of the infant. "You idiots woke up Naruto," Hatake Kakashi glared at him. Usually they would scold the teenager about respecting his elders, but, as he just lost his sensei and father figure, decided to let it slide.
"Kakashi," Hiruzen said, "take Naruto outside. I have to sort out living arrangements." Kakashi nodded silently and clung to his honorary brother while leaving. As soon as the doors were closed, Hiruzen looked back at the clan heads. "Put your weapons away! For Kami's sake, we're shinobi, not barbarians!" the seven did as told and took their seats. Hyuuga Hiashi and Uchiha Fugaku were at opposite ends of the table to lower the chance of those two fighting once more.
"So, Naruto really is the son Minato Namikaze?" Yamanaka Inoichi asked.
"Yes," Hiruzen responded.
"So...how exactly is this 'Joint Adoption' going to work?" Inuzuka Tsume wondered. Hiruzen smiled around his pipe.
"Naruto will stay with each family for a period of five weeks. After the time is up, he will be moved to the next family. The order will be: Uchiha's → Yamanaka's → Nara's → Akimichi's → Hyuuga's → Inuzuka's → Auburame's. If anyone tries to get extra time with Naruto without permission from the family he is staying with at the time, they will wait an extra five weeks to get Naruto. You may teach him any Jutsu you see fit when it is your turn, but I ask nothing past genin level. And you all will have to agree on when to start him in the academy," those were the terms. Hiruzen passed out the contracts for them to read and sign. Once he had them all signed and returned to himself he nodded to Fugaku. "You may take Naruto home with you now."
And with those eight words, the chaos called Naruto's life began.
