Bacon.

Set just after James and Lily started dating.

My name is Lily Evans, I am sixteen and currently dating the Gryffindor Quidditch Capitan, James Potter whom I surprisingly used to hate. With his devastatingly good looks and prat-ish charm, I fell for the idiot by the end of Fifth year. He matured a fair bit over the Summer and I admitted my feelings for him quite recently (halfway through Sixth year).

I used to be your average teacher's pet. Work always in on time, prefect, perfect marks, the lot. Nowadays I find myself making crude comments and skiving off school work to see James.

Well, it's not all sunshine and lollipops. I have a serious problem. You see, it all started a few hours ago.

Frank brought Alice back some bacon from the kitchens. Then, the unthinkable happened. James gagged at the sight and smell of the bacon! Then he proceeded to insult the bacon!

"Oh you did not! What did you just say?" I rounded on James.
"Bacon makes me sick and I hate it?" James replied meekly.

Frank, Alice and I looked at James with wide eyes.

"How can you.." Frank started,
"not like.." Alice continued,
"BACON" We all concluded.

James looked significantly afraid. I sat down on the couch with a confused look on my face. After a few minutes, James dared approach.

"Lils, Lily... are you alright?" He reached out and touched my arm, shaking me out of my trance-like state.

I smirked.

"Let's hope you don't get me pregnant. I hear pregnant women crave bacon" I laughed, James grimaced.
"I can do that. For you, I'd cook bacon even if it made me ill" James stated wearily. Somewhere on the other side of the common room I heard Alice release a wistful sigh.
Bloody suck up.

-Back in real time-

I was lying on the couch in the common room, half on the couch, half on James. Surely I was squishing him somehow... oh well, he wasn't complaining as yet. I continued counting the freckles that were sprinkled on his tanned hand.

James spoke up, his voice causing his neck to hum against the top of my head.
"Hmm, this is nice. What did I do to deserve you?" He asked.
I rolled over to face him and smirked.
"I ask myself the same question love, oh well. Now you're stuck with me. Bacon and all!"

James pulled a face at the mention of bacon again. I chuckled and leant forward to kiss him on the nose.

I rolled back onto my back and James decided to thread his fingers through my hair.

-A year later (End of 7th Year)-

Breakfast. The last breakfast of my Hogwarts career. I looked over at James who by some fluke managed to land himself as Head Boy to my Head Girl in our Seventh year. He and I had a bet when we first started dating that if he got Head Boy I'd marry him whenever he wanted instead of making him wait til we were a bit older, maybe twenty?

James being the parading prat he is decided that proposing to me on Platform 9 ¾ was the way to go. Lucky for him I love him, the idiot.
I looked at the ring on my finger and smiled.

As I was thinking about James, the smell of freshly cooked bacon came my way.

Smirking mischievously I grabbed James by the tie and pulled his face to mine. While he was distracted I grabbed a pile of bacon and placed it atop his breakfast plate.
I broke away from the kiss and smiled getting up and leaving the table.

3...2...

"LILY!" James roared. I laughed as I turned to see James rolling off the edge of the bench he was sitting on, a piece of bacon flying into his mop of ruffled raven hair.
I ran off laughing hysterically with James hot on my heels.

Maturity is so over rated.
