Happy Thanksgiving! Here is a short little Thanksgiving one-shot I decided to write at 1:30 in the morning!

"Max, where's the turkey?"

"Er… the oven?"

"Oh, yes, thank you Max."

Mom was frantic. It was her first Thanksgiving with us, the six mutant bird kids with black holes for stomachs (plus our talking mutant dog and his 80 pound girlfriend). She had to make double what normal families had just to feed us. This was defiantly going to be… interesting.

One thing was for sure, though. It was going to be a lot better than the Thanksgiving at that traitor Anne Walker's house. This year, I was going to be around people I loved and trusted.

Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a small black moving object. I turned to see Total with a bowl of mashed potatoes balanced on his back.

"Hot plate, please make way!"

"Total, don't you dare drop that!" I waved a finger in warning at him, almost like one of those moms on the TV shows. Next I would be wearing a pink floral dress. I shuddered at the thought.

Iggy and Gazzy sat at the table, messing around with a potato, some wires, and other suspicious objects.

"Iggy, Gazzy, what is that?"

"Oh, hi Max." Iggy moved the potato around in his fingers, despite the fact he could not see it. "You know how they have those potato clocks? Well, we are trying to make a potato bomb." "Yeah, and when it goes off, it'll splatter everyone with mashed potatoes! Like Thanksgiving confetti!" Gazzy piped in excitedly.

"Give me that!" I grabbed the potato bomb and put it on the other side of the table. It was amazing, those two could seriously make an explosive device out of anything.

"Max! Can you help me take one of the turkeys out of the oven?" Yes, we had two turkeys, and both of them were huge.

"Aw, mom, you burnt the side of this one."

"Well, cut it off or something!"

Once all of the food was placed at the table, and so was the flock, Mom spoke up.

"Okay, everybody. Let's start off by going around the table and each saying something we're thankful for. Max, you start."

"Well," I said, "I'm thankful for a safe place to stay in, and I'm thankful for my mom. This is only our first Thanksgiving together, but it feels like one of many."

"Thank you Max. Next is Fang."

"Well," Fang thought for a moment, "I'm thankful for… Max. If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't be here right now. She is the best leader a flock could have."

I was shocked by what he said, and flattered. I felt my cheeks flush red and ducked my head down with a sheepish grin. It's funny how Fang could make me react.

"Fang, that was very nice. Nudge, you?"

Oh no. "I'm thankful for… I'm thankful for the flock, Dr. Martinez and Ella, this nice house, all this good food, a-"

"Nudge," I interrupted her. "I think that's enough."

"Nudge, that is very kind. Iggy?"

"I'm thankful for all this food that isn't in my mouth yet. Now can we eat?" He looked like he was about to pounce at the feast.

"Iggy, we are almost done."

Once we had gone through giving thanks, and we were halfway through all the food, a loud beeping noise sounded. It was coming from the potato bomb right next to my place.

"What…?"

"Max, press the-" Iggy tried to tell me to press the button, but it was far too late. The beeping stopped for a moment, and then the potato exploded. Fang and I were covered in pieces of potato. Yes, this was surely a Thanksgiving to remember.

Review telling me what you're thankful for! (And also what you thought of my story. :D)
