Mary didn't walk in on Azazal that night in Sam's Nursery. The
stories short, but it goes from 14-17 for Sam and 18-21 for Dean.
Sam Winchester had everything a fourteen-year-old boy could want. He was a soccer star with great grades and a pretty girlfriend who did everything he wanted. His parents came to all his activities and never once said they were too busy. He's even best friends with his popular athletic older brother who watches out for him and no matter where he was going he would always allow Sam to tag around. Sam had the perfect life, but that was all going to change. Dean announced he was going to be attending the University of Michigan the following year on a football scholarship. Sam pretended to be happy like the rest of his family, but Sam knew Dean wouldn't be going. Dean wasn't going to leave him. Ever.
Sam told his yellow eyed guardian angel about Dean's plans that night. He put Sam's fears to rest and he told him Dean would never leave him. He would make sure to that. By the end of the week a brain aneurysm while at the wheels of his Impala took away Dean's ability to play any sport or the ability to learn things as easily as before. Dean had to repeat twelfth grade, but after he failed to graduate the second time he didn't bother going back the next year. Not being able to learn anything he didn't already know he ended up working at their father's garage and living at home. Dean would never leave Sam now. Sam was all he had.
Dean's problems sparked some between their parents. When talk of divorce found their way now to seventeen year old Sam he knew that had to be dealt with as well. The Yellow Eyed dark cloud told Sam his family would never be happy again, but that he could give him a new family. Just this time Sam had to give something back in return. Sam had to become his willing servant. Sam pledged his loyalty to the demon and when the boy could not back out of it the demon sprang something else on Sam. He wanted Dean as well. Sam was reluctant to help the demon take Dean, but after it promised to return Dean to what he once was without the need to want to leave his younger brother Sam happily agreed. Sam took his yellowed eyed friend to his brother's room and was both surprised and freaked by how hard his older brother fought both of them, but in the end he could not with stand the Yellow Eyed creatures control. When the possession was completed the two Winchester boys slaughtered their parents than left in Dean's restored 67 Chevy Impala to do the same to the rest of the world.
