Lusa and Toklos Story Chapter One
"Lusa! Lusa wake up!" Toklo prods his friend but she doesn't wake. "Oh come on! For the love of spirits, wake up!" this time he bellowed it in her ear. She jumps up in alarm and looks around.
"What's wrong?" She said puzzled still looking around.
"Don't be bee-brained, nothing. It's just," Toklo shuffled his paws and then finished "I thought I would teach you how to hunt."
"Ummm okay!" Lusa was nearly jumping up and down as she said this.
"We have some time before we have to get a move on so if you want to learn we should go now." Without waiting for a answer Toklo walked out of the temporary den walls leaving Kalilik and Yakone to sleep in a massive ball of white fur. Lusa eagerly followed him. "I smell a rabbit," Toklo grunted raising his snout. "it's over there." He whispered motioning to a clearing in the trees where a brown rabbit sat.
"Watch me." he murmured loud enough for Lusa to her but nothing else. He got low and stalked to a bush then a rock with excellence. He kept his eye on the rabbit at all times. Crept a little closer then bunched his muscles and pounce. The rabbit let out a terrified squeal but it was too late Toklo was on it and with a swift paw he broke its neck.
"Great job Is it my turn?" Lusa asked as she watched the big grizzly pick up the rabbit and trot over to her. He dropped it at her paws then said
"If you think you can." She gave him a nod and began sniffing the air she smelt another rabbit. she followed her nose without another thought until she saw a plump brown rabbit eating by a stream.
"This one good?" she asked him but all she got was a shrug that meant you decide. So she got as low to the ground as possible and stalked near it. The rabbit was two bear lengths away . It looked up saw her and ran.
"Oh no you don't!" She roared and took chase soon she was upon it she gave a tremendous leap and crashed on top of it. bent down and clamped her teeth on its neck. it stopped moving. "Oh yeah did I do good Toklo?" she asked as the grizzly appeared from the forest.
"It was kind of sloppy but yeah I guess you did okay." Lusa picked it up and walked over to Toklo and brushed up against him. Toklo was surprised at this but liked it and after a second brushed back. They licked each other on the muzzle then ate one of the rabbits and took the other back to the make shift den and drop it in front of the white fur that is Kalilik and Yakone. Then the two bears Black and Brown, Lusa and Toklo went outside the den in silence Lusa sat snuggled up against Toklo.
"Toklo umm can I uh no never.. never mind." Lusa stammered
"Tell me you can't do that then not tell that would be bee-brained." He grunted.
"Okay I guess I can tell. I've um I've always liked you." She said
"I've always liked you two." they cuddled close until the others woke up.
