This is just a blurb I wrote. Nothing fancy. Just a short oneshot. It doesn't take place at any specific time. Of course, it has to be when Hermione is a prefect and when Harry is allowed his broom. As I said, nothing fancy.

Disclaimer: What do you think? Yeah, I thought so.

-More Than Wishing-

Ronald Weasley just wanted to be noticed. Hermione Granger just wanted to be noticed. Harry Potter just wanted to disappear.

Ronald Weasley had been noticed. Hermione Granger had been noticed. Harry Potter had not disappeared.

All three of them lay under a tree on the Hogwarts grounds. Hermione lazily turned the pages of a yellowing book. Ron played chess by himself. Harry sat polishing his broomstick.

Ronald Weasley glanced over at some passing girls who giggled when they saw he was looking. Yes, he had been noticed although he doubted Hermione and Harry noticed him being noticed yet. There were just little things that had changed. His first name was being used more often and more girls looked at him with something other than superiority.

Hermione Granger glanced down at her Prefect's Badge. It was uncommonly shiny at the moment. All those years of being an exceptional student had paid off. People acknowledged her more now that she was a prefect. They had reason to know her because of what she did, not who she knew. Her acquaintances had piled up. There were more people like her she could talk to, academically ambitious people.

"Have you ever wished to just disappear?" Harry asked casually, swiping a piece of grass off of his leg.

"Sometimes I do. I don't wish that so much anymore. Nope, not so much anymore." Ron said, not thinking anything of the question.

"How about you Hermione? Ever wish you could disappear?" Harry looked over at Hermione who gently laid down her book.

"There are times when I feel that way. I suppose it would be nice to just disappear but it would be nice to reappear sometime later. No, I'd rather not disappear. It would complicate the matters." Hermione said slowly and thoughtfully. She cautiously looked over at Harry who was picking at the grass and flinging it away.

Ron coughed as he inhaled a piece of grass. "Watch it Harry. I don't want to choke to death on grass."

Harry smiled and laughed a bit while Ron started throwing grass back at Harry. "Now really you two!" Hermione exclaimed as a clump of dirt hit her nose.

"Sorry Hermione." They replied under stifled laughter. Harry went back to his polishing. Ron went back to his chess game. Hermione tried to read but she kept glancing at Harry. There was something about his question. The way he asked it.

"Harry?"

"Yes?"

"Don't disappear on us. Please, don't disappear. You'll be missed for something other than your…unique ability. People don't just like you because of that. At least not me, Harry."

Hermione abruptly stood up and briskly walked off leaving a tear behind. Harry watched her leaving with his mouth agape.

"What do you think that was all about?" Ron asked, very puzzled. He hadn't put a lot of thought into Harry's question. Harry was always asking odd questions.

"It was nothing Ron. I expect it's just one of those days." Harry said after a moments pause.

"She can be nutters, at times. Completely off her rocker."

"I suppose so Ron." Harry sighed and went back to hispolishing. "I suppose so."
