To Say Goodbye

Sam Nixon wiped her tear stained face, as she prepared herself for her last day of school. She knew her boyfriend, Phil Hunter, and best friend, Jo Masters, would not be reacting like she was to the thought of leaving. She slung her bag over her shoulder and took off for school. She was determined not to cry before the last assembly but she could not stop her tears from falling the day's events.

When Sam got into her form room she saw all her friends crowded around the one desk that was only made for four people. Mia, Mickey, Jo, Phil, Zain, Honey, Kerry and Dale (aka Smithy), looked over at her and smiled hoping that she wouldn't cry again. "Hi guys…" Sam said but her voice trailed as she started to cry again. "Oh babes, come on, its not like we're leaving forever." Phil soothed as he wrapped his arms around her and brought her in for a comforting hug.

"I know, but I can't help it."

"Baby." Stuart Turner teased.

"Listen here Turner just cos she dumped you, you don't need to call her!" Phil hissed, stepping forwards, fists clenched.

"Leave it Phil, he isn't worth it." Sam pulled her boyfriend away from her ex. They had already been in trouble once for fighting.

After the first lesson and the last lesson Sam had started crying again. But she was torn between laughing and crying because Phil and Jo kept making her giggle. She couldn't eat her dinner because she was so emotional. The rest of her year thought it was sweet but Stuart kept laughing at her and calling her. After a heart- wrenching goodbye from Mr Manson, the form tutor, it was time for the year 11s last assembly.

The first half of the assembly was quite formal as the year 11s received there progress files. The second half was much calmer as the teachers had put together a presentation of pictures from the past few years. After the fun the head of year, Miss Gold, said a few words, which started off most of the year, strangely not Sam. She assumed she was all cried out after the day.

At the end of the assembly the pupils stayed back to get there shirts signed and say goodbye to everyone. Sam had been hugged by random people she didn't know. When she was free from the random people, she saw Jo walking over to her tears streaming down her face. Sam brought her best friend in for a comforting hug but felt her own tears start to fall too.

"Oh god what are we like?" Sam giggled.

"I know, listen you better not tell Phil I've been crying or I'll lose a fiver." Jo laughed. Both girls started laughing still crying. Stuart saw them and approached them.

"Aww! Is poor little dyke crying now too? You're both a pair of babies." Stuart teased.

"Right that's it Turner, I can't get in trouble for hitting you now!" Phil yelled across the hall. Stuart ran for his life knowing that Phil was going to beat the hell out of him. Sam and Jo started laughing again as they watched Phil chase Stuart around the hall and the teachers tried to stop them. They were going to miss times like that…
