Another response to the Drabble Challenge on Facebook. I like to think this is canon.

Robin Scherbatsky 'How I Met Your Mother' – If I ask you to change too many things about yourself, you're not going to be the man I fell in love with.

'You know, I can change.'

Kate looked at him, cocking her head to one side, a quizzical look on her face. 'Change what?'

'The nine-year-old on a sugar-rush thing,' Rick smiled. 'I can act more like an adult.'

'Well, have you ever thought that maybe I don't want you to change that?'

'But I thought you hated it?'

'Used to, Castle. Past tense.'

'What changed?'

'I wasn't fun. You grew up. I fell in love with you. You became a breath of fresh air,' she shrugged. 'Take your pick, it's all true.'

'But didn't you want me to change?'

'Castle, if I ask you to change too many things about yourself, you're not going to be the man I fell in love with, and I need you to be the man I fell in love with, because you make me a better person,' Kate smiled.

'You make me whole, Kate,' Rick all but whispered.

'Always.'
