Dreams.

She remembered the first time she had ever met a Jedi. At only five years old, nervously timid (something she had thankfully grown out of) Padme had stood by the rushing fountain, shaken the Jedi's hand for the briefest moment of time, but had still whispered "Wow," into the woods late at night, Palo far ahead of her, his lantern swinging by his side.

Meeting the Jedi had been her dream, far surpassing her dream of becoming a Senator. To meet the Jedi - a Jedi, a lightsaber at his side- had been a dream that she had accomplished when she had been young, leaving the way clear for her other, more important in a sense, greater dreams. Pale had thought nothing of shaking the Jedi's hand, but she? No, she hadn't washed her hands for days, until the point when Master Timia had ordered her to the refresher and shoved a bar of soap into her hands.

At five years old she hadn't imagined that she would meet even more important Jedi than the one she had shaken hands with. At five years old she didn't even start to think of the possibility of falling in love with a Jedi!

But she had. And the proof was right in front of her, Anakin's snores reaching her ears for the hundredth time. Sighing, Padme sat up; her hand entwined with Anakin's, her eyes staring out into the darkness of Naboo. It had been almost twenty years since she had been back to this particular spot. The moonlight streamed into the curtain-less room and she raised her free hand, staring down at it, Anakin's warmth beside her.

At five years old she had begun to think that two Jedi could be so different. She had thought that they were all the same, their hair all copies of one another's, their bodies the same as were their eyes. But no. She had been shocked out of that thought fairly quickly by the next meeting she had had with a Jedi, this one most certainly different to the first she had met.

And then, Anakin had come along.

Nobody could be further away than the first Jedi. Sandy blond hair, blue eyes, tanned skin were all the opposites of what the first Jedi had never had.

At fourteen, she had still been innocent, and hadn't thought she would have fallen in love with this Jedi.

But she had. And finally, her biggest dream had come true.
