The SPR crew had solved a fairly open-shut case at some creepy mansion that day, the malevolent spirit in the haunted house being exorcised without a hitch surprisingly by Ayako Matsuzaki. Houshou "Bou-san" Takigawa and the rest of the SPR hadn't heard the end of it by the pretty red-headed miko--Mai herself actually falling asleep still listening to the older woman's rant and now here she was in her dreamscape with her spirit guide, her handsome boss' deceased twin brother Eugene "Gene" Davis...not really knowing why she and Gene were chatting in the first place.
Gene nodded. "Yeah, I am." He watched in slight amusement when Mai looked as if she'd suddenly had an epiphany, her eyes wide and smile large too.
Seeing the part-timer's smile was infectious, for Gene was suddenly smiling too.
"...So that's the reason why Naru likes it so much~!" The girl exclaimed happily, smiling up at Gene.
Gene was curious. "Likes what so much, Mai?"
You?
Mai's smile (amazingly) grew even wider. "Tea!" The high school student spoke of this like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Noll likes it because he's British?" Gene asked the still-grinning Mai, an eyebrow raised. "...That's a very...stereotypical...thing for you to suggest, Mai-chan." He stated mockingly, a smirk splitting his features on witnessing Mai's sudden distress.
"N-no!" the pretty brunette insisted, "That's not what I meant--!!"
"Why Mai-chan," Gene continued unabashedly, humour laced in his tone, "You saying that Noll likes tea because all British people like tea is like saying your Australian exorcist friend John Brown has kangaroos in his backyard and crocodiles in his swimming pool."
Mai's eyes widened in surprise. "He does!?" She asked loudly, not really seeing Gene's incredulous expression, "That's amazing!"
Gene said nothing when Mai continued to speak about how amazing John Brown's house must be, and couldn't help but laugh at what would surely happen the next morning.
Noll's gonna love this.

"John..." Mai asked the next morning at the breakfast table, catching the attention of the blond exorcist and everybody else surrounding her. "Gene was telling me last night that crocodiles live in swimming pools in Australia," she stated eagerly as she learned forward onto the table, smiling. "If that's so do you have one too?"
Naru actually snorted while John choked on his food in surprise. Yasuhara, Ayako and Bou-san meanwhile roared with laughter and Masako Hara hid her smile behind the kimono sleeve. Lin showed no reaction, but if one knew where to look they would see the anti-social man attempting to hide a smirk. Mai stared in obvious confusion at her co-workers' odd reactions to her clearly logical question and the girl couldn't help but pout.
"...Was it something I said?"
