Fathers Eyes
Disclaimer: I do not own Kenshin nor do I own the song "My fathers Eyes" by Eric Clapton
Sailing down behind the sun,
Waiting for my prince to come.
Praying for the healing rain
To restore my soul again.
Just a toe rag on the run.
How did I get here?
What have I done?
When will all my hopes arise?
How will I know him?
When I look in my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
When I look in my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
Kenji starred at the older man, who looked just like him except for the man's violet eyes, who had just told Kenji that he would not be going to war. The older man continued to tell his son the horrors of war and how it affected his life even now, he spoke of a love that was lost and the pain his heart had held for so long after killing her along with so many other people. He spoke of how war had taken a piece of his soul that he could never get back.
Then the light begins to shine
And I hear those ancient lullabies.
And as I watch this seedling grow,
Feel my heart start to overflow.
Where do I find the words to say?
How do I teach him?
What do we play?
Bit by bit, I've realized
That's when I need them,
That's when I need my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
That's when I need my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
Kenji cradled the small bundle in his arms that his wife had just given birth to, Kenji looked up at the older version of himself, he was amazed that they still looked some much alike except for the few streaks of gray that contrasted from the mans blood red hair, their eyes meet and both men smiled a small quiet smile. No words were spoken for there was no need for them.
Then the jagged edge appears
Through the distant clouds of tears.
I'm like a bridge that was washed away;
My foundations were made of clay.
As my soul slides down to die.
How could I lose him?
What did I try?
Bit by bit, I've realized
That he was here with me;
I looked into my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
I looked into my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
Kenji bent down over the old man he had known all his life as his father, the old mans breath was shallow, his hair was now completely white but his eyes were still the same bright violet they had always been. The old mans eyes seemed to twinkle as they stared up at Kenji, a smile played across his white and wrinkled face. His breath became ragged, as Kenji looked deep into his father's eyes. Kenji watched as his father slowly passed away.
My father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
I looked into my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
Kenji let the tears fall down from his eyes as he left the room, he looked down only to see his own sons eyes staring back at him.
