Mara's POV
Prom…the best day of your life, right? WRONG! In the beginning, it felt like I died and went to heaven. But then it felt like I just died. Well, it was great until that moment. The moment when I told him I loved him. His response broke my heart into a million pieces and it was unable to put back together. I felt broken-hearted and abandoned in my black and white dress on the dance floor. The first thing that I could think of doing was run away. So I trusted my instinct, and I ran out of the noisy, loud prom. I wiped away my mascara that bleed down my cheek from the tears. I threw open the front door of the school and ran outside into the pouring rain. I wasn't sure where I was running to but anywhere seemed better than here. Suddenly I heard a voice call "Mara!" But I ignored it, because I was afraid it was Mick which would make me cry again. Someone grabbed my arm and turned me around. It was Jerome…and the sympathetic one not the pranking king one. "What's wrong?" he whispered to me. My response was just crying into his shoulder as he held me in his arms. "What happened?" Jerome said sweetly. "He-he…doesn't love me. He said…" I hesitated to say it but then finally said, "He loves Amber again. He said he made a mistake when he broke up with her." I said almost in a whisper. "He did make a mistake." Jerome started. I looked up at him. "By breaking up with you, he made the biggest mistake of his life. Look at you, Mara! You are beautiful, smart, amazing, sweet Words can't even begin to describe you!" I blushed and bit my lip which was my nervous habit. "You know I made a big mistake, too." I began. "What's that?" Jerome asked. "Choosing Mick instead of you." I admitted with a smile but then bit my lip again. It was silent and quiet for more than a minute but I will admit that it was one of the most romantic moments of my life. We overheard the loud music and talking of the prom. "Mara?" Jerome said breaking the silence. "Yes," I replied. "How about we go back to the prom?" he said holding out his hand. "I'd love to." I replied with a laugh as I took his hand. We walked into the prom hand-in-hand. I heard Amber shout at Mick saying "Why did you break Mara's heart? I can't find her-"but then she saw me with Jerome and smiled brightly. Nina, who was dancing with Fabian, mouthed "Jerome?" and I just nodded. Patricia gave me a thumbs-up but looked kind of confused. A slow song filled the crowd room. Jerome and I walked on to the dance floor and began to dance. I loosely hung my arms around him and we danced to the beautiful song. We stumbled over each other's feet but that somehow made the moment more romantic! As he spun me around, I laughed for no reason at all. I barely noticed all people surrounding us because I was too busy looking into his beautiful eyes. Turns out what seemed to be the worst night of my life…suddenly changed to the best night of my life.
