He hasn't called in weeks.
So when her phone buzzes, just when she walks to her car after school, she feels the butterflies in her stomach again, not the anger and disappointment.
„Tyler"
„Hi Caroline. Listen", he begins.
„I don't think I can break the sire bond. Not that I'm not trying," he adds quickly, „I really am, but the only result is that I can transform at will now and I don't ..."
She rolls her eyes.
„Stop it, Tyler. It's okay, just come back, you've tried and it didn't work. I miss you"
„I miss you too, but I won't hurt you again, so I've … decided not to come back at all."
„If you think this is romantic, then you're totally wrong. It's just stupid!", she almost yells at him
now.
„I could kill you if Klaus told me to, have you forgotten that?"
„No I haven't, but I don't think we have to worry about him anymore. He'll probably heal me again anyway." her voice is tender again.
There is silence for a moment.
„So you trust Klaus now? The Hybrid who's the reason I'm gone, fighting for you?"
„I didn't say that" She really gets angry now.
„Did he compel you?"
„No, of course not!"
„Well that's just exactly what it sounded like. Maybe it's a good thing I'm not coming back at all."
„Yeah, maybe you should just leave me alone like everybody else does!"
Tears have started to come, but she tries to hold them back. Not Tyler, too!
„Don't pretend to care anymore, Caroline. I see why you want Klaus. He's more powerful, he can buy you things.
Enjoy your time with him until he dumps you"
And this is it: How easily he seems to be able to let go of her is what comforts her for a moment, thinking he might actually be right.
Then the connection is terminated.
„Tyler!" she screams but knows he can't hear her anymore.
