Title: Just Once in His Life
A/N: Don't own them….I just play with them occasionally. I promise that I will have them home for dinner and unharmed.
The story hit me when I was in class one day…… thankfully, my students were taking their final exam…….. This is part of a much larger story arc that I am working on. Someday I will finish it.
Jack watched the couple dance in the moonlight. So much in love. Just let me be looked at that way by someone once in my life he thought. If they were not his friends, he would be jealous. Knowing them, Jack knew where they would end up later on in the evening – wrapped in each other's arms.
There was always a part of him that wanted both of them. There was a part of him that could see all three of them enjoying fleshy pleasures together. It nearly happened too, just before they were teleported to the Game Station. They had just left Kyoto and were laughing. There was a lot of flirting and some strong hints. The teleporting, the events on the Game Station and their separation put the brakes on that right quick. By the time they were reunited a few years later, Rose and the Doctor were already an established couple.
Dancing tonight, they were so cute and so good together there was no was that he was going to interfere – until a certain song was being played. Glenn Miller. "Moonlight Serenade" Captain Jack Harkness tapped the Time Lord on the shoulder and said, "May I cut in?"
Jack almost expected the Doctor to refuse. Instead, Theta looked at Rose as if to gain her consent. His bonded one smiled and nodded her head. They shared a gentle kiss and then Theta handed Rose's hand to Jack.
Jack loved the woman in his arms. He no longer wanted to take her to his bed. Rose Tyler-Sigma was more like his sister; the Doctor, his brother.
"You two are so cute," Jack said.
"I'm sorry. We're leaving you out tonight, aren't we?"
"Not a problem, Rose. It's good to see you two so happy. But why does it seem like you have a secret?"
"I guess I can tell you now. Theta knows, I told him earlier. I'm pregnant again!"
Jack picked up her up in a bear-hug embrace and swung her around. Theta and Rose's first son, called Little Jack, was three years old. He needed a little brother or sister to help keep him out of trouble. Although sleeping in the TARDIS at the moment, John Peter Tyler-Sigma was definitely his father's son. He was always looking for trouble and possessed his father's manic energy.
The Doctor joined Jack and Rose in their embrace. The look on Jack's friend's faces was of extreme love and contentment. Jack decided to leave them to their own private party. He faked a yawn and told the lovers that he was tired. He said his good nights and walked into the TARDIS. As Jack walked through the TARDIS' door, Rose hugged him from behind on her tip-toes on the sandy beach where they were taking a few days holiday.
"Thank you, Jack. Good night. I love you." She hugged her brother again.
"You're welcome, Rose. Congratulations." He hugged her again, entered the TARDIS and went to his room.
As he drifted off to sleep, music still softly playing for the lovers on the beach, he prayed to whatever gods existed on this planet for someone to look at him the same way that his friends looked at each other. ……….Just once in his life.
