Her eyes flutter open; the first thing she notices when she wakes up is the two strong arms wrapped around her body. After she turns her body towards his chest, and presses her wedding ring against it.

"Good morning Angel," he mumbles pressing a kiss on her forehead.

"Morning Soul," she says softly.

Then he takes his hand rubs it against her round stomach. "How is our little girl this morning?"

She gets an unpleasant look on her face. "She's been kicking more…"

"You're almost there Maka only one more week," Soul smiles.

Maka has taken to running her hands up and down his scar. All she could think about is how much pain she caused her husband. Also, how the scar tore their partnership apart at such a young age.

"Maka what's the look for?" he asked not knowing what could be wrong with his pregnant wife.

The last thing she needed was her husband worrying more about her. Since she had gotten pregnant Soul had become more protective of her, than he has in the past. This had been getting on Maka's nerves more than Soul knew.

"Nothing," she groaned.

"Angel I know that look."

Maka knew there was no way of getting out of this one. "I was thinking about your scar…"

He brought her even closer to himself. "Maka I thought we weren't going to talk about this again."

"I know… thinking about the past isn't cool. It's just that… I could've lost you," she mumbled under her breath.

In Maka and Soul's line of work dying is something anyone has to prepare to face. Since this was something that happened at the Academy, the students had special consolers set up so they could get help. During the time Maka and Soul spent at the DWMA a couple of their friends had died during missions. So death wasn't new to the two. It still didn't change the fact that the couple feared death, and the idea of either of the two dying.

"But you didn't." Than he kissed his wife on the lips trying to be as calming as he could. "Maka I'm never going to leave you or our baby girl."

"Promise?" She whispered.

"Promise," he answered back.
