Dead Rising

Chapter One Fear

'Fear is an amazing emotion that makes the body react the way it does'

Jack looked out the window of the plain. Where were they taking him now? Hadn't they had enough fun with him yet? He wished he could just die, and make it better on himself and everyone he knew and loved.

He had not slept in days and under the under the watch full eye of the Chinese guards, he would not be getting some anytime soon. Every time his eyes drifted closed, he would take a hard blow to the face, chest or ribs. He took a deep breathe, in hard to stop the room from spinning around him.

He almost wished the guards would hit him, just to get them to stop staring at him. Them staring was just as bad as getting beat. It made him feel even more out of place, it reminded him the threat the proposed was always Very real. He wished they would just say something, even if it was in Chinese, he just wanted to hear something other then his own pounding heart.

He must have slipped off into a slight daze because he took a heavy fist from the man across from him, snapping him back to the real world. He yelped in pain and surprise, then settled back down, taking deep breathes.

Just then Cheng entered, he had a glass of water in his hand. Jack was parched and his throat reminded him every time he swallowed. Cheng looked down at him and grinned, making sure Jack could see the water.

"So Mr. Bauer, I am sure you want to know just what is going on?"

Jack didn't move, he just sat there eyes looking straight on.

"Well, your country had offered a very nice trade for you, and we expected it, this plain is taking you to America."

Still Jack didn't move, Cheng was lying to him as always.

"You don't have to believe me, Mr. Bauer, but I assure you, I am not lying, whatever they need you for, must be big."

It was almost like Cheng read his mind, how did he know? Cheng downed the glass of water in his hand and Jack turned away.

"Trust me, I am just as disappointed about this as you are, I was just starting to have fun and I had a lot more in store for you, but I guess that will have to wait."

"30 minutes, Mr. Bauer, about 30 minutes."

And with that he went back up front. No, he was lying, they couldn't be taking him back to America, could they?
