One morning, Gilbert arrived at Matthew's house after receiving a letter from him asking for his help on some werewolf problem. Matthew was delighted to see Gilbert's arrival and invited him in. Matthew served Gilbert his favourite: pancakes with maple syrup, then they both sat down together to eat while discuss about Matthew's problem.
When the night come, they was prepared to get the werewolf. Matthew leaded Gilbert into a forest that is quite a distant from his home. Matthew walked in front, leading the way while Gilbert followed him, holding his sword close as he observed the surroundings. It was a complete silence between them as they trek through the forest. The forest was eeriely quiet, which made Gilbert felt very uneasy, but he didn't say it out, he didn't want Matthew to think that he is a scaredy-cat.
After a very long trek,Matthew stopped.
"What is it, Birdie?" Gilbert asked curiously. Without saying anything, Matthew looked up into the night sky. Gilbert looked up as well, there was a full moon.
"W-what's wrong?"Gilbert walked forward and touched Matthew's turned his head and stared into Gilbert's eyes. His violet eyes glowed brightlly.
"Birdie? Y-You're s-s-scaring me right now." Gilbert said nervously as he took a few steps back. A sly smile appeared on Matthew's face as he slowly turned toward Gilbert.
"Matt?" Gilbert held his sword close. "I-I don't want to hurt you."
Then something happened, Matthew started to transform. Gilbert's eyes widened as Matthew slowly took the form of a wolf. Matthew turned into a big dark blond wolf. His violet eyes are still fixed onto Gilbert.
They glared at each other for quite a while. Matthew growled and lashed at Gilbert. Gilbert, though now wanting to hurt Matthew, still swinged his sword at Matthew, slashed his left arm. Matthew roared, with a quick swipe, Gilbert's sword was knocked out of his hand. Matthew tackled Gilbert, pinning him to the struggled but can't get free. He closed his eyes and prayed.
A satisfied smile appeared on Matthew's face. He leaned toward Gilbert and gave him a big lick on the face. Gilbert freaked out and started to plead for Matthew to let him go. Matthew was enjoying scaring Gilbert, but he started to think if he had went overboard with it.
"Gil..." Matthew said softly as he shifted bits of his weigh off Gilbert. Upon hearing Matthew's kind and gentle voice, Gilbert stopped struggling and opened his eyes to look at the beast in front of him. Something about Matthew's voice always manage to soothe him, and that is no doubt one of the reason he liked Matthew. Matthew immediately withdrew his front paws and sat down beside Gilbert.
"Birdie?" Gilbert sat up and looked at the wolf. Suddenly Gilbert moved his hand toward the wolf and touched his left arm.
"Birdie! Are you hurt? Did I hurt you just now?"Gilbert asked nervously as he stroked Matthew's left arm.
"Gil! I was trying to maul you and you were only concerned about my safety?" Matthew was surprised how fast Gilbert's fear turned into worry. He looked back at Gilbert and continued,"No,I'm not hurt."
"Thank goodness you came back to your sense, I thought you were going to kill me back there." Gilbert gave Matthew a relieved smile.
"Silly Gilbert, you thought I would really put you in any real danger?" Matthew laughed. "I'm not a werewolf, it is just a simple transformation spell I borrowed from Arthur."
"That's dangerous! What if you got hurt?" Gilbert frowned.
"Don't worry, I got that covered. I used a protection spell (Also borrowed from Arthur) on both of us so we won't hurt each other when we fought." Matthew looked at his left arm. "See? no wounds even though you cut me there."
"Sneaky Birdie." Gilbert petted the wolf. The wolf purred in delight before he tackled Gilbert again, licking his face repeatly.
