Prologue: My first chapter to my first story I'm going through with. Have fun while you read, hope you like it! :D

I quickly glanced behind me, "Alaya, we have to move faster!"

She gave a simple nod, but I could tell she was running out of breath.

I saw a corner we could cut off in and yelled, "Turn now!" After we turned we were running in an alley way, a dead end. Luckily, the thing that was chasing us gave a roar and ran right past us, before long though, it would follow are trail again.

"What was that?" Alaya huffed, clutching her hip for breath, "another monster."

"It was chasing us right?" I replied," It had to be."

Alaya and I had been running from countless monsters in the past week after running away from our homes. We net each other on the street while getting chased from a few monsters and decided to team up, we stuck together and became best friends after that.

"Well," Alaya huffed, "It could hav-"

She was interrupted by a rustle that seemed to be coming from where the trash cans were.

"We better check that out," I whispered.

"Ya think?" She said sarcastically to me.

As we approached the soft sound we also heard whimpering, as we got closer a boy that looked my age jumped out from one of the trash cans, crowbar in one hand, his eyes were squeezed shut and he was screaming at us.

"No more monsters!" He swung his crowbar crazy, "Stay back!"

I had to move backwards to dodge his swing, but Alaya dodged easily and trying to reason with him. After a bit, he seemed calmer and reluctantly stopped swinging his weapon.

"W-Who are you then?" He asked in a small voice

I stepped forward, "I'm Avery, and this is my friend, Alaya."

"Well," he replied, "I'm Jeff."

"How old are you?"

"Eleven, you?"

"Same here, Alaya here's twelve."

Just as Alaya was about to cut in, a huge roar was heard and a shadow loomed over the alley way.

"So much for our little chat," Alaya said grabbing Jeff," Your with us now."

We started running until we came to the fence blocking the other side; Jeff started climbing first, with us right behind him, and the monster right behind us bellowing in rage.

We jumped the fence and booked down the street, heading to the edge of town, "Maybe we could find shelter there."

Alaya looked glanced back at the monster as we ran, she gulped.

"What?" I asked.

"T-That's a C-Cyclops."

Jeff also took a look and screamed, "Hurry!"

We crossed the line between the forest and the town and hid under a tree, that was (luckily) already dug out from underneath.

"In here!" Alaya said.

We all cramped in the small place and heard the roar of the Cyclops fade off in the distance.

We all took a breather.

"Wow," I said in disbelief," that really was a Cyclops."

Alaya still looked terrified, "If that was real, then…"

"Then what?" Jeff asked her, barely noticing our conversation.

"Maybe," she said, "What if all Greek monsters are really alive?"
