Forgiveness
a/n: I'm writing this random drabble idea that I had. I wanted it to be a full one-shot but I didn't really know what to write, so I came out with this 600-word piece. I don't even know if I'm going to keep it up, that depends on your feedback. Let me know what you think of it in the reviews. Also, I don't like the title for this but I couldn't think of anything for it bleh. Peace out!

He wasn't supposed to turn up at the bakery.
And he wasn't supposed to walk in as if he had done nothing wrong.
Heck, he wasn't even supposed to write back to her. He hadn't bothered in the past, but yet he and finally done something when she had put in the effort.
Why hadn't he put the effort in before?
Her mother had thrown the first thing she could get her hands on at him, a slice of cheesecake and bread rolls. Topanga hadn't realised who the man was, questioning what Katy was doing until she finally figured it out once Maya had called the man 'dad' and somehow knew it was linked to Cory.
She was right.
And he had left after she had decided not to forgive him.
Yet he had burst in the following day, playing the big hero, coming back to explain to Maya what had happened and what had caused him to leave.
"Your job was to stay."
He had another job now with his new family. He had done his job for them.
"My teacher thinks if I forgive you, it can bring me peace. And he's usually right about these things but I don't see how he's right about this one. And I can't. Your job was to stay."
Cory was wrong about this situation. She may not have been angry anymore, but she was not forgiving the man who was supposed to be her father.
"Did you forgive yourself?"
She could feel her face crumbling as a sob threatened to tear loose from her throat before she moved forward as fast as she could and starting sobbing into Cory's chest as he just held her there, rocking her back and forth slightly.
She could feel everyone's eyes on her, watching her with pity and concern because Maya Hart was never one to cry. There was only a handful of times that she cried and those were pretty rare. And even if she did cry, she made sure no one saw her.
She turned her head and just sat in the arms of the man she thought of as her father as she squeezed her eyes shut as tight as possible to stop the tears escaping but a few had managed to escape through the barrier.
Eventually, she calmed down enough to where her breathing slowed and the tears stopped, but she kept her eyes closed and didn't move from her position.
"I think she fell asleep," She could hear Topanga saying to the others. There were footsteps that sounded like they could be coming from Riley before the brunette's voice came, "Yeah, she is."
"Poor thing, this whole thing exhausted her," Her mother could be heard saying before a hand brushed away a strand of hair that had stuck in one of the tear tracks she drying on her face.
She could feel herself being lifted up and being moved around to an easier position to be carried in and then slowly moving after a few mutters that she couldn't quite understand. She could only assume that she was being taken home.
After a few minutes, she could hear Riley's voice, "Do you think she'll be okay?"
There was a pause for around twenty seconds before Cory replied with, "I hope so, I really do." And as she drifted off to sleep, she was left with her own thoughts.
Did she forgive herself? Not completely, no. But that didn't mean that she wouldn't someday.
Did she need Kermit? No, he was another face in the crowd to her now. She had her mother, Cory and Topanga, Riley, Farkle and Lucas. She didn't need anymore.
Was she okay?
She was Maya Hart, she was always okay.
