Hi, everybody! This is one of my first entries into FF! I really have a lot I owe to Hogan's Heroes: my love for country, valor, WWII history, to name a few. For that, it'll always be my favorite show. I lurked here at FF for a couple years, and even wrote a story starring Newkirk when he was my favorite (Hogan's my favorite now). Finally I joined! Hope you like my little contribution to the fandom. Oh, I do not own Hogan's Heroes or any of its characters. Now ain't that a shame. . . .
Freedom, Freedom
Freedom, freedom, such a far-off word.
I can hear them call me,
But I can't return.
It's my duty
Right here, you see?
But one day I will be free.
Someday, someday, you and I will go.
When we hear them marching,
You and I will know.
Til then, stay strong,
Stand tall with me,
For that day is soon, you'll see.
When it's over, this charade can end.
We can walk the streets now,
Nothing to defend.
Til then, don't give up
Or give in,
For one day, I know we'll win.
Freedom, freedom, let me feel it in my mind,
For though they now call me,
I will not return.
It's my duty
For you and for me,
That one day I'll be,
That one day you'll be,
That one day, we'll all be free.
Author's note: I made this to have some lyrics to sing the Hogan's Heroes theme to. So you can theoretically sing this to the theme, if you slow it down considerably and make it sound long and longing. I doubt anybody could know what I'm talking about!
By the way, "them" in stanza 2, line 2, is the Allies marching in to liberate the camps.
This is my second entry in FF; the first was an entry in snooky-9093's "Letters" story (thanks). I'm excited!
