One.
"Mamo-chan?" she asks with her too-loud, grating voice. He finds it incredibly endearing.
"Yes, Usako?" he replies with a tender smile.
The blonde girl clings tighter to his arm. Her voice drops to a lower decibel, and she looks hesitantly into his blue eyes. "We'll always be together, won't we, Mamo-chan?"
He wonders briefly what brought this on, and then decides it doesn't matter at the moment. Every once in a while, Usagi suffers from bouts of insecurity. It's best to quickly reassure her. "Of course, Usako," he tells her.
"Really? You promise?" Her blue eyes plead for confirmation.
"Yes, I promise," he says firmly. "It's destiny, Usako; we can't be apart."
Two.
"Here you go," he says, setting the glass he'd just received from Motoki down on the table. "A chocolate milkshake with whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top."
Usagi's whole face brightens. "Yum! Thanks, Mamo-chan!" Without hesitation, she digs in.
Mamoru wonders if he should be jealous of her love affair with food. However, one look at her cute face, smiling happily and eating another spoonful, convinces him it's worth it.
And if she ends up not quite finishing the shake, that's okay. Usagi's under a lot of stress right now. It's no wonder her appetite isn't up to her usual standards.
Three.
They're sitting curled up on his couch, watching a movie. Usagi is snuggled up to him as close as she can get.
Mamoru looks away from the TV screen. He'd never really been paying attention anyway. Usagi had been wanting to see it, and, as always, he had given in and humored her. "Usako?" he asks, but there is no reply. The girl has fallen asleep.
Well, that's understandable. It's late.
He pulls her closer and is surprised to feel that she is cold.
Mamoru frowns and covers her with a blanket.
Four.
"Did you and Motoki have a fight or something?" he asks, frowning at the thought of his best friend and girlfriend in an argument. "You two never talk to each other at the Arcade anymore."
She frowns and looks down. "No," she says quietly. "It just seems like you're the only one with time for me anymore."

The other passengers frown and shift slightly away. When they pull into the station, everyone hurries off.
What a strange man he was, talking to thin air.
