Drabble
Destiny smiled to herself as she sat in her brother's car, on her way back home. Her hand caressed her stomach as she thought of the fact that her baby would be here soon. The thought terrified her, but she was also really excited. When she'd held Liam in her arms, it had made her even more positive that she'd made the right decision in keeping her baby.
"What are you thinking about, Lil' D?" Shaun questioned, parking the car and turning his head to look at his sister.
She jumped in her seat, startled and then, looked out the window, noticing that they'd arrived home. Destiny supposed that she'd been too lost in her thoughts to notice. She looked at her older brother and replied, "I'm just thinking...my baby is going to be born in just a couple of months. This probably won't make sense, but it didn't really feel real, until today. When I held Liam."
"You know that you don't have to be scared, right Des? Mom, dad, Vivian, and I are gonna be there for you. Matthew's parents seem pretty determined to be in his or her life, too." He told her, reaching over to rest a hand on his sister's shoulder.
Destiny nodded. "I know that, Shaun. And I am scared. I mean...I'm seventeen! The idea of having a kid at this age, is frightening. But...I don't regret deciding to keep him or her. I know that it's not going to be easy. But it feels right." She answered, eyes flickering down to her stomach.
"Have you and Matthew talked about what he wants to do?" Shaun questioned, curiously.
She shook her head as she looked at him, once more. "No." She murmured. "He's been really busy. Now that he's awake, he's having to go through physical therapy, because he was in a bed for more than six months. And when I've went to visit him, we really haven't gotten around to it. I told him that he didn't have to be a part of the baby's life, if he didn't want to. I can't exactly blame him. I've had six months to think about this and bond with our baby, he hasn't. "
"I think that he'll want to be in your kid's life." Her brother told her, confidently.
Destiny furrowed her brows in confusion. "How can you be so sure?" She whispered.
"Because Matthew cares about you. I think that he'd want that baby to know who he is. He saw what learning the truth about Greg and our parents did to you. Didn't you tell me that he didn't know that Bo was his father for awhile? I don't think he'd want to put someone else through that. I wasn't too happy about the situation when I found out that you two had slept together, but I think that Matthew is a good guy. He'll do the right thing." Shaun replied assuringly.
She chewed on her bottom lip for a moment. "I hope that your right." She said carefully. "I don't know what I'd do if Matthew wanted nothing to do with this baby."
They got out of the car after that and headed inside, knowing that their mom would be worrying about where they were. Destiny still had some fears, but her brother's words had calmed her some.
