This is just a little idea that occurred to me a few days ago. It was raining, and I was walking along thinking about my umbrella. I like it, so tell me that you like it too! That means review, people. I like reviews. Oh, and for the sake of the story, pretend that Kouji, Takuya, and Kouichi all go to the same school.

I do not own Digimon.

The Umbrella

It all started on a rainy day. Normally Kouji arrived at school dry and in a fairly good mood, despite whatever Mother Nature was doing. This day was different. Takuya was extremely surprised to see his friend come into their classroom soaking wet and sullen. He stared at the dark-haired boy as he made his way to the desk next to Takuya's. If he had been wearing street shoes, they would have made a horrid squeaky-squishy sound the whole way. Even so, Kouji continued to drip after he sat down with a wet thump. He laid his head on the desk for a moment before becoming aware of Takuya's persistent stare. He turned to face the brunette. "My umbrella broke this morning."

Now that he knew the reason for cool and collected Kouji's disheveled appearance, Takuya was slightly less concerned. "How did it break?"

"Does it matter? I was walking the dog and I fell."

Takuya frowned. "You fell on the umbrella?"

Kouji sighed in annoyance. "Yes."

Luckily for him, the teacher entered the classroom and homeroom began, preventing any further discussion of the subject.

That afternoon Kouji trudged to his locker slowly, dreading the impending walk home. It was still raining outside. When he opened his locker, instead of finding only his sneakers, as he had expected, a bright pink umbrella fell out. Kouji stepped back. He then grimaced at the color. Probably from some crazy girl who had seen him come in wet and given him her own umbrella. Still, it would keep him dry. He'd rather be dry under a pink umbrella than wet without one. He changed his shoes, picked up the umbrella, and left the locker room.

Only a few minutes later Kouichi came in to change his own shoes. He, Takuya, and Kouji usually walked part of the way home together, but today the older twin was running just a bit late. His locker was next to Kouji's. Thus it was Kouichi who found the note that had fallen out of Kouji's locker with the umbrella. He read it, chuckled, and pocketed the note.

"What took you so long?" Kouji asked when his twin finally made an appearance.

Kouichi smiled sheepishly. "I had to take a message to a teacher. Oh, and Takuya won't be joining us today. He's in detention." Kouichi finally noticed the umbrella that his brother was holding. "I didn't think that was your color, Kouji."

Kouji blushed fiercely. "It's not. This was in my locker. Whether someone put it in there by mistake or if some girl left it, I figured it's better than nothing."

Kouichi smiled. "Wrong on both accounts, but nice try. Here, I found this on the floor by our lockers." He pulled the note out of his pocket and handed it to Kouji. The younger twin read it silently.

"Kouji:

Sorry about the color. It was the last one the store had. At least this way you won't go home with that mean look on your face you had this morning, huh?

-Takuya"

Kouji blinked. "Why did you say Takuya was in detention?"

Kouichi fought the urge to laugh. "I didn't. He got caught sneaking out of school during lunch. Or rather, they caught him sneaking back in. He didn't seem too upset when I saw him, though."

Kouji smiled. "No, he wouldn't be." He opened the umbrella.

That's it! Review, please?
